It's one of the most beautiful words in the english language, in a way, because it takes a thousands of years of resentment and history and politics and culture, as well as a complex seemingly endless and nightmarish situation and condenses it into two simple and ugly syllables. Also, it rhymes with Grexit, which nearly happened before the Brexit process even began.

2 people are chiefly responsible for Brexit:

1) Mike Gapes, who decided the options should be Leave or Remain, instead of Stay or Depart.
2) Ebrahim Rahbari, whose term "Grexit" was easily repackaged as Brexit.

Brexit is better than Grexit though, because they had an actual crisis with nothing to lose and still didn’t leave, whereas we just went ‘we’re doing great but gently caress straight bananas let’s commit suicide lmaooooooooooooo’

Boris is sending a letter to Tusk to explain that he has rights as a free man under common law, meaning that acts of parliament don't apply to him, only to the admiralty, read magna carta for more info

so once the EU greenlights the extension does the boris government immediately fall or do the torys try to ignore the water rising around their necks

Sending an unsigned letter that says "I don't want to but they made me do it" seems really childish to me but I guess that's international politics in general.

This was probably the most british day so far in the brexit saga.

The final climactic up/down vote, instead parliament voted not to vote on it.

And then the PM sent a letter to the EU requesting an extension and then another letter saying he didnt really want an extension.

Historically, October 19th is a special day for Britain!

It really was like a Monty Python sketch.

Voting to not vote on it, I mean.
