Rules question post-FAQ: The new Iron Hands FAQ says Feirros only gives his 5+ invuln save to Iron Hands with the INFANTRY keyword; Feirros himself doesn't have the INFANTRY keyword, despite being...infantry. does he not get his own aura? Is this a mistake? Does the MK X GRAVIS keyword give him this or something? Thank you for your heeeeeeelp

Just roll all your plasma shots in one big batch. gently caress it, it works out the same in the long run. Why let it eat up so much time during your game?

GSC & Deathwatch had a joint boxed game a few months before their codexes, AdMech came out as 2 codexes in 7E, Armiger knights in Forgebane, etc. Thanks. I guess that would give me time to paint up what I get in the army set and also the rest of my Ironjawz.

More scaling-up tests, this time with a MkVI. Tactical Squad MkVI legs (with purity seal cut off), helmet, and grenades; Devastator Squad open left hand and MkVI torso (because that's the only MkVI torso the reseller had in stock; it's exactly the same size as the tactical squad one); Assault Squad arms and rimless shoulder pads (again because they were the only rimless shoulder pads the reseller had in stock); chainsword, bolt pistol, and magazine on belt are from the MkIII plastic kit; and the Umbra-Ferrox pattern bolter and MkVI backpack are from ForgeWorld. I am going to have to resort to alternate sources for those backpacks if I want to make a bunch of these, but oh, well. Likewise I would rather use Umbra pattern bolters, because their banana magazines match the extras on the belt, but those haven't arrived yet and I was impatient and wanted to build this guy tonight. (Rivets on the left shoulder are Tichy Train Group 0.04" model train rivets. "Why not just use the plastic shoulder pad with rivets already on it, Lea?" Because I don't like the way the rivets aren't really round on those; I can get an effect closer to the MkVI resin pads by doing this.) Size comparison to my previous scaled-up MkIII, a Space Marine Heroes plasma gun guy, and one of the Shadowspear Chaos Marines. I've added 1.5mm of height at the waist using a plasticard spacer, and another 1mm at the head, bringing his eye-level height up to 32mm, which I'm assuming is now the "correct" height for non-Primaris marines One lesson I learned from the MkIII is that when adding height at the neck, you have to be careful about arm placement. I think I put the arms on the MkIII too far down and back, and has a deleterious effect on his silhouette. With the MkVI I feel like I've preserved the gigantic fuckoff shoulder pad look that Space Marines ought to have, and it makes it more difficult to notice that the chest is lower than it ought to be. Speaking of obfuscation, I'm not super pleased with all the crap around his belt; the MkVIs give the impression they ought to be slimmer at the waist than the MkIIIs, but the grenades, magazines, and bolt pistol I've used here really destroy that, even as they obscure the green stuff sculpting I've used to fill the waist gap created by that spacer. For my next MkVI prototype I'll see what happens when I use less of them, although the next one of these I make will probably be a MkIV. Really happy with the pose.

I think all games really want to move on to more granular dice (i.e. Apoc D12s) or to cancelling out pools of multi symbols (X-Wing, Shadespire, Warcry) but 40k has certain legacy things they don't think they can get rid of. Also lets you sell more proprietary dice, which is presumably a great money spinner, and we all know GW hate putting 1-6 on a dice. There should always be at least two random logos.

So based off reading that Goonhammer article it looks like Salamanders dont have a single all encompassing thing, instead they have the tools to do a bit of anything they want. (With a bonus of BURN BABY BURN) Which I appreciate with my desire not to be locked into a single play style which the leaks seemed to indicate they were going to be, at the same time they also best demonstrate the differences between the supplements and the stuff that came before what with getting better versions of some pretty key stratagems from other codexes. (cough cough VotLW cough cough)
