UConn might just be looking for a pretext to kill football entirely, which isn't the worst idea.

I haven't paid too much attention to UConn in basketball lately, but looking at their results back to 2012, it seems they've really started to suffer on that front since joining the AAC. They won the NCAA championship their first year in the AAC, then slumped from good to mediocre to bad. So it would make sense to kill football and go all in on getting back into the Big East. There are several teams that play only football in the CAA, so that still seems to be an option. But if you're a marginal school that can't afford to be competitive in both basketball and football, you might as well pick the sport you are better known for historically.

Nice to know that distributing child pornography doesn't violate the "Standards that must be upheld", but something else does. Whatever, at least he won't be playing. With Martinez likely still out, it's going to be a rough rest of the season.

There is a QB controversy in Arizona now and I can't believe I'm coming down on the side of Tate but here we are. Gunnell looks like a better fit in Mazzone's offense for sure but the problem is the offense, not Tate. And by "looks a lot better" I'm not sure the goal should be to efficiently run an offense that nets Arizona like 12 points a game when they devote themselves fully to it.

Is footballscoop a reliable source at all? I'm not saying they aren't necessarily, I'm just not familiar with them. e: I think it's generally agreed that Jimbo left them in pretty bad shape. Maybe not bad enough shape to do what they've done, but it wasn't good.

Florida State being rear end pleases me as a Gator fan. I hope every team we play is undefeated so that we look good if we win. Except for FSU. 0-11 would be better.

Both Jimbo left the cupboard pretty bare, but hiring a coach off the strength of one good year at USF and a meh year at Oregon State was an obvious mistake. It was clear last year he was in over his head, but I thought he might settle down and be better this year. Randaconda fucked around with this message at 17:22 on Oct 22, 2019 |

On top of all this, Cristobal being legitimately good at Oregon in the meantime has warmed the cold chambers of my lifeless heart. I was kind of worried about the Taggart hire being legit because he was seen to be an energetic recruiter and I thought he could probably stock the Seminoles with enough talent to make them a tough out no matter what. I’m very glad to be wrong.

A "bare cupboard" at FSU should still be relatively strong. It's not like Jimbo was a poor recruiter. FSU could still end the season with a winning record. Boise State, UVA, Clemson, and Wake Forest are good teams so it's at least not unconscionable to lose to them while rebuilding. But at some point he has to start winning and not look so dejected and lost in the post-game interviews.

Coach chat reminds me that Florida really hit a home run with Dan Mullen. I underestimated what he could produce. My idea was an (entertaining) 8-4 to 9-3 kind of team.
