They ran this promo last year. I got one last year. It's still sealed in the box and I was going to give it away to someone who wants one.

So - so far today it's been uncovered some prick hid a camera in a branch bathroom and managed to co-erse two unwilling people to have sex with him as a result, an entire other branch gets arrest due to theft and those both are not the most OMGWTF thing by a loooooong shot. One of my work collegues in PNG - technically I supervise him - was literally murdered because of "witchcraft/sorcery" - Lost a "spiritual" battle and / or got used in a ritual, I'm not 100% clear on. Dude had pieces of his spine missing when he was put on a boat and sent to die back to the local big town (in this case Lae). Translation = he came from the wrong tribe, got hacked to bits and left to die There really are days my job is just on a next goddamn level of WTF.

A lot of people say running is bad on the knees but everybody I've talked to that runs says that running strengthens the knees and as long as you're careful, you're fine. Anyway, I have a meeting at the hospital later where I'm expecting to be told my father is terminally ill. He has a blood infection and it's damaged his aortic valve, and this isn't the first time - he's had open heart surgery in the past and a second set of biomechanical valves implanted a year later. I lost my grandfather a month ago and my grandmother in May. This year sucks pretty bad.

Speaking from 10 years down the age timeline from you, I've had several friends that were half-to-full marathon runners stop running because of knee problems. I think it's a genetic thing in that SOME people can run forever if they take care of themselves and their knees, but A LOT of people will have hardware failure before they lose the desire to run. There's always biking. Good luck with your dad.

I used to love running but can't do it anymore with my hip replacements. I'm cleared to do so but my piriformis is triggered now if I try. Shoes and form are key for longevity. Limit impact and look into better form if you want to keep doing it. No judgement in this comment but that isn't a ton of mileage which may be helping you not to be wrecking yourself quickly also.

I'm a bit pissed off at my boss right now. He asked me to come in tonight. I said sorry, I can't, I'm scheduled to do another job. He pulled the "well, how can we give you more hours if you're not willing to come in when we're short?". I agreed to come in, but told him "the whole reason I have 3 jobs is because you didn't keep your promise to make me full time; you can't expect me to survive on 3-4 days a week, and my medical insurance sure as gently caress ain't payin itself - something I wouldn't have to worry about if you'd made me full time like you said you would." Left him kinda sputtering, when he recovered he said "so you'll be in at 8 tonight right?". I'm looking for another store to transfer to; we've lost several long-term veterans (5+ years when the store is only 7 years old) since I started, mostly because they got fed up with his poo poo (some transferred, some quit; I'm coming in tonight to cover for one such veteran who walked out on him last night... and made it VERY clear, very loudly, that he's the reason he was leaving). meatpimp posted:Speaking from 10 years down the age timeline from you, I've had several friends that were half-to-full marathon runners stop running because of knee problems. All of this. I'm 41, and while I never was running marathons, I did enjoy running now and then. My knees put a stop to that about a year ago. Biking, OTOH, I enjoy more, and there's no real impact on the knees with biking - but it doesn't get my heart rate up like running did unless I'm really going at it. (and yeah, GL with pops..)

At an SPL of 110db which concerts easily exceed, it takes under 2 minutes to start damaging your hearing... The human body is pretty amazing at compensating but you can be pretty sure you've done some permanent damage. Go see an audiologist in a few days and get yourself checked out. Also buy more earplugs to leave in places. I genuinely don't understand how some people claim to be music fans yet regularly go without a nice set of musician's earplugs... *edit: interestingly OSHA exposure at 110db is THIRTY loving MINUTES. Man, that's a loooooooong time to expose yourself to really loud noise. That number is dangerous. Olympic Mathlete fucked around with this message at 20:01 on Oct 23, 2019 |
