I stopped watching AvE because it seems like he went all bigtime and has a fancy CNC machine now.

Is there a reason why he did that in the first place? Did he get a new job or was he renting that machine or something? I don't remember any kind of transition, he just seemed to suddenly be filming in an empty warehouse with a Haas CNC and also unsafely unloading construction equipment off trailers.

i was a temp at a factory that made aluminum garage doors for loading docks. started from big rolls of sheet metal that were cut, crimped, and drilled. my job was to stack the 17-23' panels in twos, shrink wrap them, and hand stack them on pallets. the factory had a big rear end bin at the entrance full of just steel toes, and at the start of every shift all us temps in tennis shoes would duct tape the steel around the tips of our shoes. that picture is somehow even stupider than that

Duct tape? Jesus, what the gently caress third world country do you live in that they don't have these? https://www.acklandsgrainger.com/en/product/p/OSNOG3601?cm_mmc=PPC:+Google+PLA Or did they just remove the caps from the boots of fired workers and expect you to secure them on yourself?

Steel-toed footwear is more for the usual bumps you take in a work environment that bounce off steel but could cause broken bones otherwise, like dropping a sledgehammer on your foot. Same reason you wear a hard hat: it'll spend more of its time protecting you from bumps and falling bolts than shrapnel from explosions.

im talking about something heavy enough to push the steel caps through the soft rubber, which wouldn't have to be that heavy. a boxed TV or mattress would do it. crocs aren't exactly models of structural integrity and it probably wouldn't actually cut the toes off but it would do more damage than just dropping the box on your foot would

Edit: the upper surface of the cap is parallel to the sole so to amputate the toes it would have to be crushed to sole level, what kind of impact would do that to the steel caps but not to a foot?
