The government has seen historic defeats in parliament and has even been found in contempt of parliament. May went from being seen as the strongest leader we'd had in ages to being a complete loving clown. Turns out a whole bunch of MPs would still rather back a hard brexit party tanking the country over a moderate democratic socialist.

I can't remember who said it originally, but as soon as May realised she could just never resign the whole unwritten constitution fell apart.

249 is the majority Labour will get in the next general election.

Maybe Labour are in fact really crap. It would certainly explain how the Tories are still in power which you have to admit is extremely odd.

Labour have called no-confidence votes in the government, but because they have fewer seats, and because many of the other parties are afraid of losing theirs, the vote was narrowly won by the Tories.

Yeah, the Tories are in disarray battered by their own xenophobic infighting finally boiling over into wider politics. The labour party however seem to still be conducting their own internal fight over a return to traditional labour values or diet Tory under the Blairites.

I think more traditional Labour values would be a great thing, however Corbyn's unelectable so its a total waste of time and effort.

Meanwhile we plunge towards the Brexit cliff and I can't understand how that can take second place for these self serving idiots.

Or it is ignorant and makes no sense, in which case the people responding to you are correct to do so because you have not taken the time to properly engage with the thread and all the things that have been happening.

Also big big thanks to the thread, I made a presentation yesterday to a group of charities and my colleague and I wore jeans and smart branded polo shirts instead of suits. A kind-of competitor (who we know as Racist Mark so he's a nice guy) started his presentation with a snide comment about not getting the note to say there was no need to dress smartly. So I started mine by talking about accessibility and gatekeeping, and how a young person might not have the funds to buy a suit they'll only wear once in a blue moon, and how (this is what I learned from the UKMT) if you have reduced motor function then putting on a dress shirt is a nightmare, and cufflinks are basically impossible. I said we are taking a stand to allow people to come to these kind of events on the merits of what they have to say, not based on if they can afford a suit or not. I got a small round of applause, and he looked a right oval office. So thanks, thread.

Also my colleague, 23 year old woman, asked Racist Mark "you don't like the polo shirts, then?". He said he just thinks it's important to be smart to show respect and she said "So you dressed to impress? Do you think it worked?" and turned her back on him. Love my job sometimes.

Corbyn has neither the presence, the experience, or the institutional support of the types of people who have historically become Prime Minister. His public image is totally unfitting for a professional politician and compared to the majority of past Labour Prime Ministers he veers wildly to the left. His past affiliations make him an easy target for the press and he lacks the desire to play the press’s game with them, meaning his support from them will be at best slender.

All of these are reasons why people may well elect him in an election.

They’re also the reasons why some people believe he’s ‘unelectable’.

Perhaps these people should reflect on their own beliefs about what makes someone an appropriate leader, where those beliefs might come from, and whose interests they serve.

The best thing was if you went to the gov.uk site, it didn't really tell you what you had to do, because who has a clue, but rather told you that you might need this form which takes 8 weeks to process in order to drive in the EU after Nov 1st.

Ok, so yesterday our theory was that Labour would pivot from abstain to yes on an election, once the extension's confirmed.

Now the EU are saying they might delay the extension because Labour won't vote yes on an election.

But it's ok because Richard and Judy will find out the truth for us at 10:30. Apparently.

E:

The chancellor accused Labour of a constant moving of the goalposts. “Just a few days ago we saw light at the end of the table and [Corbyn] voted for more table,” he said.
