You can really gently caress up the faction system with judicious use of knockouts. I managed to get an Eyegore raid while on friendly terms with the United Cities. They milled around peaceably at my gate for a couple of minutes until one of them realized they were there to brawl then all the rest went aggro shortly after

It was this. Once you can full speed run under stealth and can carry a body on your shoulder unencumbered it only takes a small distraction to get in (sometimes you can just run right in without one and still get through). Even if they see you it doesn't particularly matter just jump in a cage and go "welp. guess you guys got me!". Once they walk away let yourself out and go retrieve the person you want.

Don't bring any weapons or wear shoes to avoid confiscation. Can carry a pair of sandals to toss on after you are ready for the sprint out.

My first step in a new run is to learn the secret of being a swole ninja. Level sneak, lockpicking, athletics and strength which are coincidentally the same skills you level by just stealing everything that isn't nailed down.

Just picked this game up the other day. I built my first lil outpost in the desert, pumped out enough to get 14 people, a bull and a garru, packed up and wandered over to the stream in the racists zone.

I had a 20 man black dragon ninja raid and somehow, my rag tag group of ex-slaves in rags defeated the well armed and armoured group. Now we're swimming in armour and weapons.

I've got this weird issue now where my weapon smith keeps idling because their weapon 1 slot is filled with a weapon they made and the weapon smith is filled with a weapon they made and they do not just drop off into the weapon cabinet that's right there. They were doing it earlier without issue, but randomly stopped. I've tried importing, I've tried fixing the nav mesh, I've tried clearing the job queue and redoing it with only Haul to Weapon Cabinet and Operate Machine: Weapon Smithy. I've tried sacrificing a goat to beak things. None of these have worked. What do I do?

I mean, if you're a successful actress and you go out of the house in a skirt and without underwear, knowing that paparazzi are just waiting for opportunities like this and that it has happened many times before, then there's really nobody you can blame for it but yourself.
Have you tried doing it with a different character to see if the same problem crops up? At least it would exclude the possibility that the problem is with the guy himself.

There is a very specific bug I've seen with armor smithing that might be related. If they try to haul a finished product to a storage chest and there are enough empty spots, but they are tetris-ed so there is not enough contiguous space the person freezes up. Try auto arranging the storage, or just building more if your current space looks full.

It was not this, but it somehow had to do specifically with that particular weapon cabinet. As soon as that weapon cabinet was full, they started piling weapons into another cabinet no problem and never interrupting workflow.

Good game!
So, I've been using quite a few modded weapons. I noticed that a lot of them dont work with the general knowledge of "2x weapon weight STR " requirement for full attack speed. So i decided to ask one of the mod authors. He said its actually blunt damage x40.

The general info spread around by everyone is simple:
"You need 2 times the weapon weight in strength!"

While this technically isn't wrong in 95% of all cases, it's actually a coincidence more than anything.

You require the weapons blunt dmg output x40 in str to swing it at full speed. In almost all cases the weapons are actually balanced so that this works out to be 2x the weapons weight. For example the Fragment Axe. 3.6x blunt damage on Meitou x 40 = 144, which is twice the weapons weight of 72 kg.

The outliers to this are the following weapons:
- Jitte and Heavy Jitte 25/36kg, 72 and 104 st required (1.8 and 2.6 blunt)
- Heavy Polearm 9 kg / 24 st required (0.6 blunt)
- Holed Sabre 8 kg / 20 str required (0.5 blunt) - Staff 8 kg / 64 str required (1.6 blunt)
- Actually all polearms now that i look at it.

What if a weapon has no blunt damage at all though, like the Nodachi? Then you simply require the weapons weight as str. You will have full attack speed at 8 str with the Meitou Nodachi.

I hope this helps some people understand better why some weapons are slow despite them meeting the "2x str requirement"

Are you actually visiting the production facilities? they have tons more slaves than the city shops. When you buy them they will follow you around. After you get a set distance away from the city/camp they will roll a dice if they join you or not, you can savescum this. Edit: based on their personality type some slaves might join you immediately also when you buy them

I have restarted yet again because I am some kind of insane masochist I guess. I've worked my armour smiths up to making Specialist gear, and I've got the squad ready to go on their first real mission. Everyone has Specialist-quality gear and Catun 1 weapons: the five Shek are all wearing White Plate Jackets, and the White Plate Pants and White Plate Boots from More Plate Options, leather turtlenecks, and masked helms with Desert Sabres and Short-Cleavers. Stubs is a ninja with a Dustcoat, Samurai Clothpants, wooden sandals, a dark leather shirt, and a swamp ninja mask, with a crossbow and a Katana. Lord Beep is wearing a Tin Can, a sleeveless longcoat, a hive leather vest, and samurai legplates. Notably absent from Lord Beep's ensemble is any arm coverage at all. In the pack bull are a pair of KLR specialist arms, some spare food and bandages, and the materials to build a small shack, bed, and prisoner cage. The mission is simple: Beep will walk into a Holy Mine and start a fight with some paladins, then Stubs will sneak in and rescue him and repeat until he is armless. Ideally the shek retinue will not have to do anything at all, but they're there in case we encounter bandits or wolves along the way, or if things do not go according to the plan. With luck, we shall soon be hailing Lord Cyber Beep.

Raiding Holy Nation farms can be a way to get numbers of good recruits, the slaves have much higher stats than random bar recruits and you can get several from each farm along with a decent value of loot.

Plus of course you can kidnap some burly Holy Nation soldiers to lock in cages and use as training dummies?

The game has a 30 unit max for your faction, so if you're using mods to raise the cap, you should use mods to create more ways to recruit.

you can just sneak into a slave hut at night and unlock all the cages before making a break for it. every attempt should net you a few who stick around since the rate is higher when they are freed i think?

How do you get the slaves from holy nation farms? Kill all the holy nation dudes and it automatically frees them?

Just start killing paladins and the slaves will begin breaking out of their shackles. Then it's the standard follow your group until they are far enough from the settlement routine.

Yeah, by and large, they will just start following you by default as soon as you start breaking them out of places and particularly if you start opening their shackles. Some will actually do a whole "no, I'm not coming, they'll just hurt us worse once they catch us" spiel and refuse to move, it's very detailed. Once you go far enough, they either leave or join, you have no real control over that.

Just some things to remember:

- Holy nation farms dont have any slaves, just citizens
- Holy mines do, rebirth especially has a lot of course.

I highly recommend the wandering recruits mod, it adds squads of faction apropiate wanderers per zone, EG skeletons in deadlands, UC citizens in the great desert/hook, swampers in swamp. Those squads will always have 1-2 people to recruit.

To be fair, that's against a no-toughness Beep with no armour. His well-armoured legs, clad in Specialist samurai legplates and benefiting from a Specialist sleeveless longcoat were merely reduced to –13 or so from the impact, and he only barely ticked into the negative in his chest which is what actually knocked him unconscious.

I started with the one armed start where you have nothing so I got enslaved very quickly but escaped almost immediately, I definitely avoided abusing it. I had maybe 20 toughness by the time I got out of the desert. Picking your fights is important early on. Getting up to fight is insanely good for leveling toughness.

Later on it doesn't matter, even blades won't really kill you unless you're fighting a really special enemy. I also have really high dodge. I'm playing martial arts only.

How much did he have before? I've had dudes go up crazy amounts of toughness in a single fight, but 43 at a single bop would be pretty impressive.
