And conceptually we all get and respect that, but in-practice Voyager was rarely in actual dire straits. It was a marathon with remarkably few actual hiccups compared to say, Battlestar Galactica's treatment of the same basic premise where in-fighting and resource management were actual concerns.

Picard and Sisko definitely had more comfort to retreat to though, you are right. Janeway did show remarkable fortitude and grip-- thus the whole "psychopath" thing.

It seems odd that they bothered to even make resource scarity a thing.

Like, somebody did a full Photon Torpedo inventory after the writers decided to ignore that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIGxMENwq1k

Stuff like that seems extra annoying because that could easily be a cool background issue the crew would have to solve through stand-alone episodes.

My absolute last post on this derail-- Voyager was meant to be Star Trek's next "big" show in the 90s after TNG ended. The producers and people at CBS/Viacom/UPN were really throwing their weight behind it, and thus micromanaged the concept into being TNG-2 (+ Barbie Tits) instead of letting it be part of the two-pronged "anti-Trek" pitch they bought alongside Deep Space Nine.

The original pitch really is very much a "let's see how far we can bend Star Trek before it breaks" idea, especially when you put it alongside DS9. Resource management, in-fighting, and humans as an isolated minority species are all baked into the premise, which was summarily ignored because the mid-90s wisdom of "syndication is God" and "it's not what Gene would have wanted" prevailed over realizing the show's potential.

That's why Voyager is so consistently underwhelming, despite having a really good cast, production, and solid concept/character outline, while DS9 was a bit ignored and allowed to go off in more interesting directions. And yes, it's why Janeway sadly just isn't that great a captain in the end, despite having all the ingredients (and often giving the outward appearance of) being pretty drat awesome.

Anyway classic content:

I will not shut up about the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. I talk about them all the time and work them into every conversation I have. I built a shrine in my room for the yellow one who died because sadly no one noticed because she died around 9/11. Wanna see it?

I wouldn't say Janeway had the roughest go in-universe. She had a hell of a load to carry but the actual difficulties were pretty minor, considering the circumstances. Picard and Sisko were comparable, if nothing else. Picard in-particular gets to know he's responsible for Space 9/11 for the rest of his life.

Like it's really important to note that ranking Janeway low isn't because fans don't respect her or acknowledge her achievements, it's that the competition really is that strong.

Picard caused 9/11?

:sigh: I know you're baiting me.

Remember this wacky bullshit?

Well the Borg didn't just give Picard a fancy makeover. They used all his privileged Starfleet Captain knowledge to mount an assault on Federation space in The Battle of Wolf 359 in which about 39 starships and 11,000 lives were lost before the Enterprise got there and de-Borged Picard with some :techno: nonsense.

This led to the Federation "waking up" after a relatively long stretch of peace and prosperity where their biggest worries were territory disputes with the Romulans and keeping tabs on weird regional players like the Ferengi and Cardassians. They reorganized a lot of their military force, and coupled with the wormhole discovery at Deep Space Nine entered a new era of paranoia, constant warfare, and hawkish vigilance.

Sound familiar?

And as the guy who technically made it all happen, Picard would get an understandable amount of poo poo for it, most notably from Captain Sisko who lost his wife at Wolf 359:

That's what I mean when I say that Picard caused "Space 9/11"

Season 3 after they stopped serializing it and the writers strike into Season 4 which created an abortion of a plot are just depressing. Such an amazing show. If it could have been on HBO it would have gone down as legendary.

I still watch it from time to time.

I'll die on this hill. Kirk loving stinks. It was everyone else on the classic Star trek that made it. Shatner was a handsome man who immediately got a gut.

Yeah, but she actually went to prison and likely thought she was going to be there a lot longer, and she's famous without the wealth Lady Gaga has to insulate herself. So she's in a better position to compare the two.

I don't think this person has ever been to an improv show.

Instead of no one laughing, the audience is composed entirely of people who do improv or are friends with people who do improv, so they show their support by laughing at absolutely everything, no matter how terrible.
