For what it’s worth, that survey was apparently carried out by YouGov, who have a history of massaging the numbers to make racism appear more mainstream than it is. If they say 28%, it’s probably “only” about 20% of the country who wants to ethnically cleanse the browns.

Jørgen Goul Andersen, who I think commissioned the survey, said the question was included to measure the extreme fringe, but now he's arguing that Stram Kurs having relatively poor support (3.1 average out of 10 on a "sympathy scale") among those who fully agree must mean the simple, straightforward question was misunderstood. There couldn't possibly be other reasons not to support brain-damage man over one of the numerous established parties that effectively want the same thing.

A whole lot of people, even in pro-refugee groups, are trying to soften the blow. "The country that robs refugees at gunpoint isn't turning fascist, look at all the people who don't agree with ethnic cleansing, the cattle car is half empty."

That’s a weak argument but he (or someone else) also cross-referenced that question with respondents who said that they wanted Denmark to have stricter immigration laws, and half of the pro-ethnic cleansing crowd were neutral or opposed to that. Either they are cool with the current degree of ethnic cleansing going on, or they misunderstood one of the questions.

It’s an extremely alarming result and it shouldn’t be minimized, but I think it’s also worth recognizing that it was produced by an organization with the explicit agenda of telling Frederiksen and co. that Denmark wants ethnic cleansing.

Ubrelatedly, I’m not comfortable with referring to Paludan as “brain-damage man” because it implies that he was a less terrible person before his accident. All it did was make the courts give him leeway when his stalking victims filed harassment charges against him.

Or they simply believe it's possible under the current regime, which just handed the Minister of Integration the power to revoke citizenship without due process, and deports Afghan children to summary execution.

I don't know that YouGov has an explicit agenda of ethnic cleansing, even if they in the past have shown a tendency to weight support for DF somewhat higher than other polling agencies.

He absolutely and unquestionably was, though, besides being a lawyer and member of Radikale obviously. And the court didn't give him leeway, he got the maximum restraining order (5 years). He unsuccessfully used the condition as a defense when the Bar and Law Society wanted to sanction him. That's how journalists dug up the info.

I’m trying to suggest that weighing support of DF and similar parties when you’re a polling organization is virtually the same as having an agenda to promote ethnic cleansing. I’m being a bit hyperbolic, but I don’t think we actually disagree here.

As for Paludan, I will readily admit that most of my knowledge of him is from third hand sources, but I’ve heard from numerous people that he continued to harass the residents of Borchs Kollegium after getting a restraining order and got away with it either through a loophole or successfully arguing that he couldn’t be held accountable for his action. If there is an official source that contradicts this I will have to defer to it, but I heard the story before he founded Stram Kurs and I don’t see why anyone would make it up.

(E: My other evidence of him always being maximum garbage is from a friend who is friends with the other Paludan siblings, but I will readily concede that my understanding of her understanding of their understanding of him is not exactly a base for an argument.)

E2: I found and reread the official account of the stalking story. It’s more or less what I heard, but the ending of the story is that he kept violating the restraining order, until he reached a settlement with the victim where he’d leave the guy and his family and friends alone, in exchange for the victim withdrawing all charges and promising to never speak of Paludan in public. That is straight up blackmail and in no way Paludan getting punished to the maximum extent of the law.

Weighing is probably the wrong word. Their polls have a tendency to show marginally greater support for DF compared to others, I'm aware of the issue and have criticised them before. However, there's no evidence to suggest these numbers were deliberately manipulated, nor is there any way to reasonably adjust them that somehow doesn't make them a giant red flag. People are grasping at straws to disprove these numbers out of hand, I've even encountered some who argue they're bunk by reason of not including the literal words "ethnic cleansing" in the question.

The same study shows the number at 38.7% if said Muslim is unemployed, by the by.

IIRC, that was a civil case and the family acquiesced simply to get some peace and quiet, but I don't really disagree with your characterisation. The criminal court sanctioned him to the maximum extent of the law. He was also convicted for insulting the investigating officer via e-mail.

They are our best investigarive journalism on tv and bring up bad things about sweden, which is gobbled up by most swedes with a guilty pleasure.
Uppdrag granskning are often good at pointing out mismanagement and people in power lying, but not so much about social issues. They churn out a lot of filler episodes however. I guess most of this also goes for Kalla Fakta but they are more "look here, this is depressing reality". Just watch some episodes and see for yourself.
Examples from the top of my head, i have no idea of the actual episode names.
Good ones:
"fake bills/bluff fakturor" sent to publlic institutions.
The one where they exposed the pension fund mismanagement/corruption of "Allra", laws are now being rewritten and the case is up in court.
The one that goes through the horrors of salmon farming.
The one about slave labor in sweden.

Bad ones:
The trans issue ones.

Oh please, we are a progressive country, the four wives polygamy clause is simply valid for lesbian marriges too, but the wording is clear, you can only bring three wives as a woman.

I wish they would stop making these because :wtc:.

UG has been slipping more than usual lately. The trans ones are one example but another more recent one is also the very politically influential Filipstad one which uh, lacked some nuance.

They've always had their problems with consistency which mostly come with their medium being documentary (which is a heavily thesis-oriented form of story-telling, lacking nuance by design). I remember in particular a story a few years ago about a few 1000 kr receipts in Gothenburg being the breaking point for me personally. They wanted to tell a story about how Gothenburg city shouldn't have participated in a property developer conference (which is a fine argument to present), but when they didn't find any dirt they pivoted into the idiotic receipts thing instead rather than shelving the entire story.

No one that is actually pushing transphobic policies cares about being called a transphopbe. But Terf. Terf stings because it has history, it has baggage and a wider meaning of means and methods. It makes them hiss and snarl.

For comparison, a couple of months ago, NMR decided to protest unannounced in Copenhagen and the police rushed in to protect them, kindly instructing them to remove their masks, and to stop shoving their colleagues.
