Abusive is the wrong word unless you have additional information. It's an abuse of power and in any job you should be fired for having sex with your subordinate, but we don't know if she was abusive to the people involved.

She absolutely should resign though. People who don't understand why, I feel like they've never taken a sexual harassment class at work. Understandable if you don't work for a big corporate entity. We are required to refresh on the class every year and it lays out exactly what ethically and legally constitutes harassment and what the consequences are. It's absolutely improper, inherently, to have sex with your employees (barring obvious exceptions like you own a business with, or hire for expertise your preexisting spouse or something)

The power imbalance is what makes it abusive by default.

The issue people have with stuff like Katie Hill is fundamentally that conservatives aren't held accountable for the things they do and say. They get to hold positions of power, teach and groom kids, etc.

It's frustrating to see someone get taken down by relatively mild bad behavior while the media tut tuts people booing the president(whose crimes include sex crimes) and chanting to lock him up.

She absolutely should've resigned. Worse is tolerated from the right every day, and worse is on the supreme court and in the office of the president.

Yea everyone involved in this except the person getting hosed by their boss sucks. Revenge porn is evil, the republicans pretending to be outraged when they go to the mat for a proud sexual abuser/rapist/probably pedophile president are scum, this lady is a piece of poo poo for loving her employee for her weird threesome game or whatever. Bad people hurting a bad person with a bad method doesn't make the person suddenly a good person.

1 leads to 2, because her shithead husband acted like the co-abuser he was after she jilted him and then used the porn pics they took like giant morons to expose her. Keep in mind those pics were also able to be used to ensure the silence of the young woman she groomed.

I think one of the fundamental disconnects a lot of people have here is that what she did (independent of the revenge porn aspect which is incredibly gross and illegal) was not relatively mild bad behavior. Creating a sexually coercive environment (which is what you create by having sex with subordinates) isn't a mild bad behavior. It's extremely toxic and ripe for the sort of systemic abuse we constantly see in congress and elsewhere.

Also 100% yes Clinton should have resigned.

The "they impeached Clinton for a beej" thing generally comes up when Republicans are ignoring the sexual misdeeds of their own party. It's a call against their hypocrisy, not saying it was bad they did it

what bad behavior constituted grounds for impeachment (and he was not impeached for sexual harassment, he was impeached for lying about the beej) and what bad behavior constituted grounds to demand he resign are two different things

it's a complicated subject because at the core everyone knows republicans didn't actually give a gently caress about any of the sexual misconduct, they just thought impeachment would be fun. in addition, i may be recalling this somewhat fuzzily but i think that the focus was on the adultery and there was very little consideration of the sexual harassment part of it

It isn't even that they can afford to be hypocrites, their base and fundraising sources demand that they be hypocrites. They went to bat for Kavanaugh so hard because they had to demonstrate to everyone that "be loyal to us and we'll protect you from consequences, betray us and we'll attack you" still held.
