they're going to be passed to clerks now and they might be voted on this evening, I understand

Hope the Grenfell disaster report becomes an albatross around the neck of Boris Johnson. Absolutely shocked they're trying to blame the fire department for what is obviously the fault of the local council who let the high rises go into a state of disrepair despite massive reserves of cash and put flammable cladding on the side of the buildings so that the posh cunts across the road didn't have to look at poverty. It's such an obvious stitch up. Leaking parts of the report to pin the blame on the firefighters while forcing Grenfell survivors to sign NDA's.

Absolutely sickening.

JUst drove past a local parish councillor who has had my support since a few months ago when he asked "if we get a general election while your baby is still cute, can you bring her door knocking?" I didn't have time to stop so I just shouted "HERE WE GO HERE WE loving GO" out the window and he did a vague fist salute thing in response, so that's it, it's official, here we loving go!

Milne did the inexcusable and used his position in the media to suggest that maybe the west had some sort of responsibility for increasing terror attacks. Naturally the centrists/liberals exploded with frothing rage.

My old flat clearly had a leaking pipe in one of the walls, big track of damp running down one of the walls. The landlord just denied there was a problem and got a guy in to just paint over it. Good times.

This was also the flat where the previous occupants had left the place absolutely filthy, there was hair and various other shite everywhere, rotten food in the fridge, the bed frames were literally rotting. Obviously none of this was fixed before we moved in, and obviously the landlord then blamed us for the state of it despite us doing the best we could to deal with it.

One of the first houses I rented a tap burst in the downstairs loo and started pissing cold water everywhere; landlord turned up after work to have a look.

He faffs around for a bit and then comes out and says all sorted! in a cheery tone and leaves. Excellent we thought, very prompt.

Nope, turns out he just shut off the water to the downstairs loo altogether; never bothered to do anything further.

Nice nice.

The best bit is that the landlord in question them refused to give us the deposit back because of the state of the flat despite it being considerably better than it had been when we moved in. Being one of my first times letting I had also foolishly forgotten to take a proper inventory/photos. Thankfully I went through the lease and realised they had broken terms by failing to secure the deposit with a third party, and went through the small claims court to get my money back. It was very very satisfying watching them going from ignoring my letters to calling me full of apologies and paying me the next day lol.

Just a shame I left it slightly too long to pursue because apparently had I been quicker they'd have been liable for the deposit + 3x the amount for failing to secure it, but you have to take action within a relatively short timescale.

That's why it's always a good idea to take photos of the place when you get in, and a big list of poo poo that's obviously wrong with it - it doesn't stop the parasites trying to blame you, but you have a record of it if any further action is taken.

I only did cleaning for some - and some of the poo poo I saw...Neo-Victorian is the only way to describe it. Trying to squeeze families of four into a box room, five or six families with only a single shared bathroom and kitchen, and the general dilapidation of the place because trying to fix anything would cost money. And that's not counting the clearly vulnerable people who shouldn't have really been there, but it was a roof over their head.

Genuinely makes me furious that this poo poo is allowed (and encouraged) to exist in 20 loving 19.

They've loosened some of them up a bit to be more in line with Europe now. Like they've acknowledged that RCD/GFI breakers exist so you can finally have three pin sockets in the bathroom now as long as there's a suitable breaker in the room and on the consumer unit and they're outside of 'splash zones' and you can have a proper light switch instead of a piece of string that hits you in the face at night as long as it's IPx4 minimum and outside of the new bathroom zones (worst sonic levels).
