I think I'm going to be very glad that I live in a fortress Plaid Cymru constituency. All the national parties pretty much put up a token candidate, mail out the bare minimum of election flyers, and maybe stick up a few placards if they're feeling particularly energetic. I commiserate with those of you who have to spend the next 6 weeks wading through a snowdrift of flyers every morning to get to the front door or hide behind the sofa from the 72nd doorknock of the day. Also just out of curiosity, I remember people saying that GE 2017 really helped put a lot of funding and grassroots into Labour with Momentum, is there much evidence of there being increased activism out there or enough donation and support to have a really hard campaign? I've been bombarded by so much negative labour news but the increased groundwork by labour activists always sticks in my mind as the potential deciding factor of this election.

Labour is still a gigantic party, subs and donations from members to back them up as activists is totally viable, there's also the platforms already set up like: https://mynearestmarginal.com/ Which appears to have crashed in the 5 minutes since I posted it so I'm guessing it's rather popular! The greatest worry is how good the manifesto is and honestly dropping the freedom of movement and abolish eton stuff is going to really frustrate a lot of people when it happens but hopefully there's enough vision there to keep everything rolling.

Brexit has absolutely murdered national swing and dropped it in the ground and pissed on its grave. Plugging two almost-indistinguishable sets of numbers into a popular calculation website: (Both sets are from ComRes; the Con-up set is from 11-12 September and the Lab-up set is from 26-28 July; selected because the numbers are almost identical.) Calculator: http://www.electionpolling.co.uk/swingometer/uk-parliament Con 29 Lab 30 LD 16 UKIP 1 GRN 5 BXP 15: Labour biggest party, 47 short of a majority (and the SNP bloc right on the edge of pushing them over the line), Lab 279 vs Tory 268, LD 29. Con 30 Lab 29 LD 17 UKIP 1 GRN 4 BXP 13: Conservatives biggest party, 41 short (and can't get there with Liberal help), Con 285 Lab 262 LD 29. And that's before we consider things like how we've been seeing wildly divergent results with polls coming out on each other's heels and a difference of up to 10% between polls taken in the same or overlapping sampling periods; at times, they've been totally outside each other's margin of error. Nobody has any loving idea at all what is actually going on; and nobody is going to have any loving idea at all until 10pm on election night; and if you're going to be skeptical about the results of any one exit poll in the last 20 years, make it this one.

The main problem as far as I can see is the really important details are just beyond the average voter, or at least ones I interact with. Maybe that will work in Labour's favour but then I see my Tory/Leave voting in laws cheering Boris and slagging off Corbyn when the news comes on despite the fact neither of them has a pension beyond the state pension and are both dependent on the NHS with their post age 60 health conditions

And yeah I do remember when we all actively noped out on that loving transformers comic hope is a lie meme that was a good day.
