The males should be air rifles because you need to pump them a bunch of times before you can shoot and you only get one shot before you have to start over. The women should be full auto because they have a giggle switch and can go off more than once.

The advisory votes are anti-tax propaganda. They have no legal weight; their only purpose is to get voters mad at the idea of taxes while they're thinking about how they'll vote on eyman's initiatives.

Vote "maintain" on every single one and put your mental effort towards the rest of the ballot.

So yeah, there has been a mass die-off of Brewpubs/restaurants in Portland recently.

Following Bridgeport, Lompoc just went under along with Henry's, and has Laurelwood closed its Sellwood location. The Rock-bottom in Downtown Portland also went out. There are probably more closures coming. Part of it is probably just the sautration of craft breweries in Portland, and the fact, leases have become unmanagably expensive. That said, we will see it is the first tremors of a recession.

Residential rental prices have largely flatlined but are still punishing Also, if a recession is coming, I could see Portland being pretty hard hit considering how reliant the economy is on hospitality and services.

Are these locations being filled with other businesses? How do you know if it's regular churn or not?

It has all happened recently, in the space of a month, but that said I have slowly been noticing more spaces staying vacant.

I know Laurelwood at least straight out said they couldn't stay in business because their lease was eating them alive. Lompoc, Bridgeport (which was earlier this year), and the company that was running Henry's (and also Stanford's) both went into bankruptcy. I assume Rock-bottom was just cutting their loses.

It seems stronger than a normal churn to me.

A well known restaurant in Seattle closed recently and the owner explicitly said it was due to his lease renewal. I think this is going to be really common especially in recently gentrified areas. I keep reading that a lot of people are expecting a significant food service downturn soon. Maybe Portland is getting hit with it first.

St. John's main drag on Lombard is having a pretty substantial amount of buisnesses closing and each one has sited landlord issues. Mostly rent increases but I think Annna Banana's has something to do with a property repair shutdown.

I wouldn’t be surprised, like I said, I think Portland has a cyclical economy with marginal wages considering its cost of living. Commercial rents have climbed with the rest of the property bubble in Portland but there may not be the retail sales but them sustainable.

Btw, most of those places did a pretty steady business from my experience, and I wouldn’t be surprised if other bars and restaurants would be caught in a similar situation.

A local favorite pub in my area that's been around for a while just got kicked out by their building owners and has to find a new location. They're doing a go fund me because they only got a months notice.

Watched like 3 businesses close with in a few blocks of each other and have been vacant since in north seattle as well.

I think the recession started and no one wants to acknowledge it. My company has laid off 1/3 of our work force in the last 18 months as well.

1. Herbold, godwilling; the pigs and Safe Seattle are mobilizing hard against her, though, so it'll probably be tight, either way.
2. Morales, in spite of Solomon murdering whole forests to feed his mailer machine. Also, gently caress the firefighter and pig unions for endorsing him.
3. Orion, unfortunately; I think Sawant has a shot based on the Amazon backlash, but I don't think it'll be enough.
4. Pederson; I gave Shaun my democracy vouchers, though, even though I don't live in his district.
5. Juarez, no question.
6. Strauss, but I don't think it'll be as close as 1 or 3. Strippergate will be the decider, I think.
7. Probably going to be Pugel, but I think this is largely a Giant Douche/Turd Sandwich situation.
