New Bury Your Dead is good. I had no idea it was just an EP though, and it sucks cause I want more.

A lot of good stuff coming out lately. Can't Swim, Gideon, Varials are all good to great, and I still need to listen to Bury Your Dead. Also some stuff I haven't seen talked about : New Prada is surprisingly solid, better than anything they've done since Dead Throne at least: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfVZI-RJqqA Madtown - True Colors, nothing groundbreaking but stupid fun traditional hardcore: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ys01UvI4LVg SeeYouSpaceCowboy's album dropped a few weeks ago and it's aoty-tier stuff for me, could've easily been released in the early 2000s aka the best time for metalcore and would've both fit in and been an instant classic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1CZY2OFqiI Tethra has probably the most forgettable/uninteresting name ever but somehow released the best As I Lay Die album in a year that already had a solid AILD album. Seriously listen to this, everything about it slaps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCHLBXNAROM Also on the subject of bands way better than their name, no idea who these Weighbridge dudes are but this is a beast of a track (more altrock/post-hardcore than metalcore but whatever that entire buildup/release section from 3:00ish on is perfection) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPQNT4XeTQs SchwarzeKrieg fucked around with this message at 14:27 on Oct 12, 2019 |

Giving the new TDWP a spin. I admit I haven't put much time into their material since Dead Throne and this barely sounds like the TDWP I remember It's.....not great so far e: like seriously wtf is this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9bT2OmGO_E kumba fucked around with this message at 15:03 on Oct 18, 2019 |

The Zombie EP and Dead Throne were their peak. 8:18 had some OK songs but I feel that everything after that has been diminishing returns.

Third single from new Counterparts is now streaming, "Paradise and Plague" and it slaps Probably gonna be my favorite record of 2019, I haven't gotten into much new heavy music this year tbh. I was counting on Obey the Brave to hold it down and they let out the saddest softest wet fart imaginable. The Bury your Dead tape is fun but one note even by their standards, kinda seems like DL wrote the entire thing himself and only recruited BYD so he'd have Mat to do vocals on it. Knocked Loose's tape is really solid.

Funny, this was totally the vibe I got from listening to it too. It's good, but the only standout to me is Lions for Lambs.

i am finally getting around to listening to this new Norma Jean and it's just meh, feels like they've been releasing the same album over and over. it's fine enough for background noise but not gripping me. dont think i'll even make it all the way to the end before swapping to Rings of Saturn e: okay it gets a little more interesting towards the 2nd half, tracks 6 & 7 are probably my favorites. still not something i'm likely to come back to often or ever but it's better than bad kumba fucked around with this message at 15:11 on Oct 30, 2019 |

I'll still listen to each new album, but it's mostly just background music. The last album I sorta dug was Meridional, but that was drat near a decade ago. Hell, I went to see TDWP/Norma Jean/Gideon last week and ended up leaving 3/4ths of the way through NJ's set (went mostly for Gideon, didn't care about TDWP) because I barely recognized any songs. Fake edit: all that aside, I did recently listen to Redeemer for the first time in a loooooong time and, holy poo poo, "A Temperamental Widower" loving whips rear end.
