Hatebag posted:Yeah if the outlay is the same for them you're just gonna get less money. I think the idea is that at worst you shift the premiums your work is currently paying (for people with employer-sponsored healthcare) over to payroll taxes that fund M4A, but then you get the benefits of: 1) not having premiums come out of your paycheck on top of that 2) zero cost-sharing so no decuctibles, co-pays etc which can be thousands of dollars annually 3) having a full range of benefits including vision and dental 4) not having employers keep shifting to shittier plans and increasing your share of the premiums as health insurance gets more and more expensive 5) most importantly: covering everyone in the drat country regardless of employment status bernie's plan works the same way I think? idk I honestly haven't paid a ton of attention because my vote for him is already set

I am an idiot who still has some threads of hope for electoralism and the ability to fix our broken country though, your opinions may differ

Epic High Five posted:There's a big list of stuff he can do on day 1 by fiat that are all super popular and will gain him the public support he needs to browbeat and threaten the succ into getting in line or being defeated humiliatingly next round Sanders would also have a wide range of foreign policy things he can do day 1 with zero say from Congress and he's substantially better than Warren there. If Warren were somehow able to implement her whole platform it'd be the most radical leftward shift in this country since FDR, maybe even bigger than the New Deal. It'd still only be a half-measure for what we really need though! Sanders would be like 3/4 of the way there? I'm not sure if anyone is calling for fully nationalizing our energy infrastructure and spending hundreds of billions on renewables and energy storage R&D day 1

I guess my main concern is that this plans vests all of the power in the hands of the corporations that oppose it in the first place, and for no other reason than to answer to a republican talking point out forward in bad faith It also undermines one of the big selling points on M4A I've found for conservatives, that it'd be a boon for small business owners and entrepreneurs
