Maybe health insurance should be ripped out of the hands of employers entirely and they all get told to go gently caress themselves without lube? Would solve that 50 employee bullshit and subcontractors of subcontractors of contractors not offering actual jobs, just gussied up wage slavery as relates to coverage. Anyone saying, "But I love my employer insurance don't take it away abloo-bloo" is a short-sited sucker waiting to find out how well that coverage works out the second they get downsized, outsourced, and off-shored with a pink slip or do expensive stuff like actually start to use their coverage. The law doesn't mean poo poo, employers will find an excuse to "let someone go" if their usage of the benefits ups the rates and means a single red cent comes out of management pockets.

Lots of people have been protesting in support of Hong Kong at Blizzcon by wearing Winnie the Pooh costumes, because Xi Jinping is a gigantic babyback bitch. Edit: also, healthcare coverage should not be dependent on employment. It's insane that it is.

I have incredibly good health insurance for the private sector. I pay 250/month for myself, have an 1150 deductible and 2300 maximum out of pocket. So theoretically my health insurance costs me a maximum of no more than 5300 bucks for a year. My company dumps a grand or more into my HSA every year. I would gladly pay considerably more than that on the assurances that everyone else gets it and it's not tied to employment.

These loving narcissists actually think they had a chance. Eh, some of them had a chance, but the ultimate problem facing any candidate in a crowded primary is how to make yourself stand out from the crowd in a good way—and while some candidates have been able to carve out a lane for themselves, "Mediocre Moderate" was a logjam from the beginning. The one I'm actually mad at is Tom Steyer. Dude spent thirty million of his own money in his vanity campaign, when that money would have been better spent doing literally anything else.

They were all doomed as soon as they started trying to chase an imaginary middle ground between Bernie and Warren on the left and Biden in the center, neither the on-the-ground volunteers or big money donors were going to buy into that poo poo. Osita Nwanevu had a good breakdown of Pete a few days back as someone who never really moved past their initial political awakening in the mid-2000s: https://twitter.com/OsitaNwanevu/status/1189540506688200704

Old Boot posted:Has Bernie actually released any raw-numbers plans for M4A? I'm not finding anything substantial. The M4A legislation he's introduced and is campaigning on offers a number of funding options, but no hard numbers.* The most likely funding mechanism a Sanders presidency would utilize would be a payroll tax akin to social security (As mentioned a few times in this thread). However, the program would be expensive enough that multiple funding methods would likely be required regardless. *From Sanders' site, funding options include:
(Note that both Sanders and Warren have proposed variations of several of these bullet points, though for different programs—Warren for instance has made her 2% tax on wealth a cornerstone of her campaign, but has already allocated the money that would be earned towards a wide variety of programs.)
