I've had a history podcast idea kicking around in my head for awhile, where I would examine less known and obscure parts of mostly Middle Eastern and Central Asian history. Ideas I've had for episodes: arab graffiti, Ilkhanate tax law (darkly hilarious), central asian poetry that doesn't focus exclusively on that one poem about taking a poo poo on Buddha (I spent a chunk of change getting ahold of and translating that diwan damnit), the Jadid movement(s), the barber of damascus, homosexual tourism to the Middle East in the early 20th century, etc.

Somewhat inspired by Dolan and Dave Anthony(episodes would be shorter though).

Any interest in this dumb nonsense?

Evangelion will be considered a seminal piece in Climate Change literature, so avant garde that the copious flaws will always be forgiven.

Evangelions only flaws are the lack of budget during the original run to fulfill Annos vision, flaws which are rectified by End of Evangelion.

I had a course freshman year of college on Japanese culture but it was taught by this Japanese guy who specialized in Japanese animation so it was actually about anime. In that course I learned that basically all anime is about the atomic bomb, including Evangelion.

I just watched it for the first time last month and the most haunting/beautiful parts of the show are the shots of the forever-summer countryside

The production of Evangelion was a nightmare, but the idea that the TV ending is some kind of mistake caused by lack of budget is just wrong. Which should be obvious because of how good of a conclusion it is to Shinji's arc, and the fact that it still has stuff like this

i was expecting that episode to be about their experiences with small business tyrants but no it was just some people discussing running a small business and it's like, come on you want to pretend to be anti-capitalists while talking about running a business. i signed up for shocktober and i'm going to one of their live shows because it's like a 20 minute walk from my place but idk how to feel about their podcast if it's stuff like that

I mean the visuals were pretty stunning but I remember some of the dialogue mattering. I need to give those a rewatch soon before the last one drops.

3.33 is the one that tells us the Curse of Eva makes it so the pilots never age - which is why Asuka and Shinji look the same after a 14 year time skip.

Based on the leaked trailer that's out there, Gainax is continuing to go buckwild with the rebuilds.

But seriously 3.33 had some amazing visuals:
