Haschel Cedricson posted:What's with the write-in candidate leading in VA-30? I assume they are garbage since their opponent is a Democrat. It's not an error. He's a Republican who forgot to turn in his homework and therefore wasn't allowed to be placed on the ballot as a Republican. We were hoping the effort of running a write in campaign would sink him, but alas.

Beshear up over Bevin by a ~10,000 votes with 99% reporting, only counties left to report are Grayson and Ballard, both of which will presumably fall R but I don't know if there's ~10K votes there for Bevin to make up the difference. Is there a recount threshold?

It doesn't seem like nothing. "I wonder if there's ever been a time where so much political identity has been centered on one person." Yep, the time is the next time. At least in my state (NJ) 2018 was a purge of Socially Moderate Fiscally Business Fucker Rs, so the party's more homogeneous (every state has the same map with the red rurals and the bluer suburbs) and the electeds are personally more in tune with Trumpism, representing Trumpier areas. Tbh the dynamic isn't completely different than 2010 and the purge of the Rahm Emanuel dipshit democrats

SalTheBard posted:Is the Mississippi Governor race one worth watching? Nope because the GOP will win no matter what. Mississippi has a law, the only state in the union with this law, that states you MUST win the majority of the popular vote and the majority of the 122 house district votes too to win. If you don't... if you just win one or the other... the state legislature decides the winner. And it's, you guessed it, GOP held. This has only been enforced one time... for a Democrat in the 90s. Generally most of have ceded to the popular vote. But you can bet your rear end that Tate Reeves will take his lips off Trumps cock for two seconds to take advantage of that law.
