I have no obligation to be diplomatic to someone who insulted me. It was a poo poo post and I own that. But the only mask I took off was courtesy. You tell me you're entitled to live in Seattle, I call that selfish, shortsighted, and juvenile. You want to talk about how people should be able to live in Seattle without the pressures of gentrification, I'm all ears. But keep in mind, I knew I couldn't afford to live in my hometown long before I was old enough to live on my own.

We all live here in or around Seattle. I invite you to PM me to talk about the issues of this election. I along with my SO would be willing to meet in person too, like at a coffee shop or brewery or such. We can sit down and enjoy some drinks and talk Seattle politics in person, sans hostility, childish name-calling, or mob mentality. If you don't want to talk politics I'm fine with shooting the poo poo. If you want to talk about how lovely these times are and how there's a lot of anxiety about the climate of politics, I'm good with that too. I have both conservative and liberal friends and get into some pretty good discussions that don't always line up but are informative and enlightening. I promise not to call you selfish so long as you don't call me a dumb-rear end. :)

I want people to be able to continue to live in their home city, and so I strongly prefer candidates who are trying to make that easier over candidates who are going to make that harder.

Call me spoiled or juvenile for that, and then pretend to be the reasonable one in this discussion.

The house next to the 900 sq ft cottage I rent used to be a modestly sized single-story three bedroom house sitting on part of a double size lot. Of course, this year it was bought for $850k, demolished, and now a 3 story pseudo-Craftsman McMansion is there in its place, spread across the entire lot, where you could probably fit four of the kind of place I'm living in, to say nothing of 10+ apartments. I wouldn't have minded the construction noise so much if it hadn't been going toward something so wasteful. It's not even the ugliest of the teardown/replacement houses in this neighborhood either.

By the way, it's worth mentioning that Sawant is not beaten yet. She has made up large deficits in late returns twice before. I'm sad Shaun Scott didn't beat that horrible prick Pedersen, but Strauss (probably) beating Wills in my district was a nice surprise, and the 7th is still a tossup. So, even for all of Amazon's money, it doesn't look like the overall ideological makeup of the council will be hugely different from before.

So far on the elections site, Scott's district only shows 17k votes being counted so far. That can't be it, can it?

I'm seeing 18k on the latest King County tally, but yeah, there is a decent a number of ballots to go. We won't know the final vote numbers for at least a week. That said, he has 42% to Pederson's 57% which will be tough (but I guess not impossible) to overcome. Maybe my rough math is off and I'm being too pessimistic though.

if d3 turnout is the same as 2015, sawant needs about 58% of the remaining votes to win by my math

I'm feeling some hope, because Seattle is definitely more populous than it was in 2015, so you'd expect turnout to be higher.

For some reason I thought you were talking about turnout as in total number of votes to count. More people with a similar % turnout would be more total turnout. If you were already assuming a similar percent of the population would vote, never mind.

Wraith of J.O.I.

yeah i meant turnout as in % of voters who actually voted, which in 2015 was about 49% for d3 and 47% for d4

Scott's deficit is insurmountable but if Friday's drop in D3 is like today's, it'll be basically a tied race, probably with Sawant in the lead. D3 could still go either way but I'd give the odds 60/40 or better to Sawant.
