the thing to do with "the CIA is the demiurge and falsifies all media that exists outside of my own head" guys is to skip the epistemological argument that can only ever end in you getting declared a CIA agent and just gently push them into HAARP and UFO theories

if the uygher genocide is all CIA propaganda the CIA is doing a pretty poo poo job at making it front-page news, you have to really dig to find anything about it. they're not even doing the chomsky critique of emphasizing certain genocides over others, which is extremely valid; they're just saying it's invented out of whole cloth i even saw one that was like "YES china has re-education camps for people with right-wing ideology" like uhhhh i dunno about going to bat for something that's openly a re-education camp lmao

Imagine saying that when: The United States has the highest prison and jail population (2,121,600 in adult facilities in 2016), and the highest incarceration rate in the world (655 per 100,000 population in 2016).[1] According to the World Prison Population List (11th edition) there were around 10.35 million people in penal institutions worldwide in 2015.[2] The US had 2,173,800 prisoners in adult facilities in 2015.[3] That means the US held 21.0% of the world's prisoners in 2015, even though the US represented only around 4.4 percent of the world's population in 2015.[4][5]

the skinned alive one is new to me but the sterilizations and rape have been... pretty consistent primary source claims? and kinda part of the standard ethnic oppression package well before you get to the actually putting people in camps level, c.f. Puerto Ricans, Beta Israel, etc. So yeah that comes off a lot less crazy just shouty

got any sevens posted:funny how america did all this to natives We loooooooved forced sterilizations, of natives, black people, Puerto Ricans, you name it. I decided to check Wikipedia for the most recent officially recognized forced sterilization, take a guess at the year! 148 female prisoners in two California institutions were sterilized between 2006 and 2010 in a supposedly voluntary program, but it was determined that the prisoners did not give consent to the procedures.[101] In September 2014, California enacted Bill SB 1135 that bans sterilization in correctional facilities, unless the procedure shall be required in a medical emergency to preserve inmate's life.[102] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compulsory_sterilization#United_States

A Wizard of Goatse posted:it's infinitely loving worse, nobody should be able to afford a megayacht in the first place when there's thousands of people sleeping under bridges in their town, but at least having been presented with that money they're recirculating it back to people who work for a living. Wealth hoarders are just destroying the stuff everyone else needs to live for the thrill of it. That’s the broken windows fallacy. What makes hoarding wealth bad is that it breeds more wealth. Ultimately, the damage is done when money is exchanged for pointless goods and services. If it were literally impossible to withdraw the money, hoarding it would be harmless.

FFT posted:what's the hot take besides the presumption of the existence of a left of center billionaire? yes, the assumption of the existence of a "left-of-center billionaire" is a hot take even if one existed, you don't/can't/shouldn't form a theory of political power, or even just the field of mass media content creation, that revolves around the idea of a "benevolent billionaire" to control it, because A. that's still undemocratic, and B. the profit-motive ensures that whatever "good" you can squeeze out from your billionaire patron is going to turn on you when the chips are down

You know they’re stretching when they have to compare to an arbitrary number of cars driving an arbitrary distance. quote:That, Britain’s Sky News pointed out, is the same carbon footprint as 180,000 gas-powered cars driving making the round-trip journey between London and Edinburgh—about 1,300 km (or approximately 800 miles) each. It was achieved by mucking with the medication of half a million people. If a tiny proportion of those people were, say, hospitalised as a result, the gains would be reversed.
