Yeah, it’s fraud. Akin to tampering with an electricity metre, under the Fraud Act 2006 s.11 it’s obtaining a service dishonestly, and companies tend to pursue this quite attentively, for the supposed deterrent effect. Edit you’d be looking at fines, and the possibility of up to 12 months imprisonment.
