wonder if it's going to just be a trailer/date for when the next series will air next year or if they'll manage to pull out the announcement of a holiday special for this year as a bit of a surprise

i'd say it's interesting that it's the anniversary that they're going to be doing whatever they're doing but i don't imagine there's any more significance to it than "hey, that date's nearby, might as well put our trailer out then" (or joke suggestion: we're going back to 100,000bc and Graham is going to try to cave someone's head in with a rock)

this is cute

So weird that the soundtrack is a remix of the Gravity Falls theme and not the Doctor Who theme.

Not really, they basically changed the colour of Mabel's sweater and called her Clara.

I’m absolutely including that in Doctor Who canon.

I've bee watching the first season of the classic series and I feel like The Sensorites is the first serial that really feels like Doctor Who. Previous to this the Doctor really felt like much more of an observer of the situation than an active participant. Ian did a lot of the heavy lifting in the first serials. This is also the first episode where we get Hartnell's charming goofiness.

Also, let us never forgot how this all began...

Writers for S12:

In addition to Chibs, Vinay Patel (Demons of The Punjab), Ed Hime (It Takes You Away), and Pete McTighe (Kerblam!) return, with new writers Nina Metivier, Maxine Alderton, and Charlene James.

Glad they're getting some new and different voices in, but at the same time I'm still sad they haven't pulled Jamie Mathieson back in for an episode.

Demons of the Punjab and It Takes You Away were my two favorite episodes of the previous season so that's good news. Kerblam! I absolutely loved in the moment until I thought about it for more than 5 seconds and realized how deeply hosed up and lovely the message was, but hopefully the writer can retain that sense of fun and adventure without accidentally declaring the benevolence of our capitalist overlords again.

All that said...

Sil and the Devil Seeds of Arodor posted:

Sil is worried. Very worried… which doesn’t keep his reptilian skin in the best condition! Confined in a cold detention cell on the moon, awaiting a deportation hearing while on trial for drugs offences committed on Earth, he faces a death sentence if the application is successful and he is found guilty. His powerful employers at the Universal Monetary Fund aren’t too pleased about that. Not at all…

As time runs out and friends desert him, Sil must use all of his devious, vile, underhanded, ruthless, and amoral business acumen to survive. Can he possibly slime his way out of this one?

I'm not seeing it.
