it is now time to vote Special formatting request: Please only list the name of the person you are voting for from each match-up. This will be easier for me to count than bolding names from match-ups. I can work around this if necessary, but if you can vote by just listing the name of your choice, that would be great. You can abstain from votes. You are not required to list that vote as ‘abstain,’ you just need to skip it. Zack Sabre Jr. Finished 12th in Favorite Active Wrestlers thread Eliminated in Round 4 of 2017 WH-128 by Hiromu Takahashi ZSJ has taken up the mantle of the world’s greatest technical wrestler from Daniel Bryan, and it’s shown in the WON Awards. Sabre Jr. has won Best Technical Wrestler from those awards every year since 2014, and there’s no reason to think 2019 will be any different. He’s been moving his way up the New Japan card as well, getting multiple high profile wins against the legendary Hiroshi Tanahashi this year. A tremendous heel, Sabre should be a start for years to come. Dalton Castle Eliminated in Round 1 of 2017 WH-128 by Johnny Gargano The Party Peacock won the RoH World Championship late in 2017, but at that point was so injured that his reign was heavily impacted by his physical condition. Once he came back healthier in 2019, he’s been able to regain some momentum, doing a good job in a feud to get Rush over and having good matches with Dragon Lee & Will Ospreay between RoH & NJPW. Bray Wyatt Eliminated in Round 1 of 2017 WH-128 by Kyle O’Reilly Eliminated in Round 2 in 2015 by Bayley Eliminated in Round 1 in 2013 by Chris Jericho After floundering for a couple of years, Wyatt is back and being heavily pushed as THE FIEND. It’s still early in this run, as he’s only wrestled once on TV as THE FIEND, when he squashed Finn Balor at SummerSlam. His Firefly Funhouse segments have gotten over big with non-Fox execs, and his run in attacks have definitely kept him strong. Before the time off and this gimmick, he was capable of having good to great matches and has always had good charisma. Marty Scurll Eliminated in Round 3 of 2017 WH-128 by AJ Styles Scurll is another talented wrestler that appears to have been hurt by Ring of Honor’s down year. He started the year very hot after his work with the Elite, but seems to have cooled off after signing full time with RoH. He also had a solid showing in New Japan’s Best of the Super Juniors tournament, where he had standout matches with Jonathan Gresham, Shingo Takagi, & SHO. In RoH, he and his stablemates in Villain Enterprises have been able to work together to make the RoH Six Man Tag Team Championship mean more than it did before. He’s charismatic and talented in the ring, so he should be able to regain his momentum in the near future. Asuka (WWE) Finished 23rd in Favorite Active Wrestlers thread Eliminated in quarter finals of 2017 WH-128 by Tetsuya Naito Asuka may be the most talented in-ring woman wrestler in the world right now. She won the first women’s Royal Rumble and is a former Smackdown Women’s Champion. Unfortunately, after dropping that belt to Becky Lynch, Asuka has been underused. She’s still extremely talented. Chris Brookes Did not appear in 2017 WH-128 Brookes is a world-traveler, with Cagematch listing him as appearing in 33 companies this year alone. Naturally, a good number of those are in Europe, but he’s also appeared in DDT, GCW, Sendai Girls, and Big Japan. His match in July with Konosuke Takeshita in DDT was well received. Seth Rollins Eliminated in Round 2 of 2017 WH-128 by Kofi Kingston Ignoring his Twitter antics, we’re talking about one of the most talented in-ring workers in the world. He hasn’t been putting on highly rated matches regularly, but his main feuds this year have been with Baron Corbin & Braun Strowman, so that’s not going to happen. Despite all of that, his matches with AJ Styles & Brock Lesnar both got ****1/4 this year, and he can reach that level with talented opponents. Takashi Sugiura Did not appear in 2017 WH-128 Sugiura is one of the best male workers in Japan outside of New Japan for several years now, and this is in spite of being 49. He’s a four-time GHC Heavyweight Champion, and he and KAZMA SAKAMOTO had a short reign with the GHC Tag Team Championship this calendar year. His June match with Kaito Kiyomiya has a lot of amazing reviews, and he’s also had good 2019 matches with Marufuji, Shiozaki, and Kenou. Velveteen Dream Finished 28th in Favorite Active Wrestlers thread Did not appear in 2017 WH-128 The Dream might be WWE’s most charismatic worker. With a look that’s one of a kind, Velveteen has slowly been upping his game. If he continues to improve his ring work, he should be at the top of WWE’s cards in no time. KENTA Eliminated in Round 2 of 2017 WH-128 by Asuka Eliminated in Round 2 in 2015 by Bobby Fish Eliminated in Round 2 in 2013 by Seth Rollins Eliminated in Round 4 in 2011 by Chris Hero Eliminated in Round 2 in 2009 by Edge Eliminated in Round 3 in 2007 by Ken Kennedy KENTA’s basically the Jon Moxley of Japan – he left WWE, where he was misused and unhappy, to go to New Japan. Once there, he had a bunch of great G1 matches, including against ZSJ, Ospreay, Okada, and Tanahashi. He also turned heel the last day of the G1 to join Bullet Club, punctuating his shift by beating down Katsuyori Shibata. Johnny Gargano Eliminated in Round 2 of 2017 WH-128 by Katsuyori Shibata Eliminated in Round 2 in 2015 by Cesaro Eliminated in Round 2 in 2013 by Prince Devitt He’s been limited by injury recently, but Gargano has had a run as maybe the best in-ring worker in WWE history with his NXT main events. His series with Tommaso Ciampa and Adam Cole both received tremendous acclaim, and he also had an amazing match with Ricochet this past January. Sammy Guevara Did not appear in 2017 WH-128 Guevara has really established himself as a great heel. He first succeeded in AAA and with a great run of matches in PWG before signing with AEW. Once there, he’s had a really good match with Cody and then joined Chris Jericho’s new top of the card heel group, “The Inner Circle.” Kenny Omega Finished 7th in Favorite Active Wrestlers thread Eliminated in final of 2017 WH-128 by Kazuchika Okada Eliminated in Round 2 in 2015 by Shinsuke Nakamura Eliminated in Round 3 in 2013 by Mark Henry Eliminated in Round 4 in 2011 by Kevin Steen Eliminated in Round 2 in 2009 by Kofi Kingston Omega spent 2018 putting on countless great matches as he became one of the few gaijin to ever hold the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. He lost some momentum as he sat out most of 2019 for the formation of AEW, but his few appearances in 2019 all been great matches. He’ll get a chance to show his greatness over the last few months of 2019 with a regular television show. Jushin Liger Eliminated in Round 1 of 2017 WH-128 by Finn Balor Eliminated in Round 1 in 2015 by BxB Hulk Eliminated in Round 3 in 2013 by Brock Lesnar Eliminated in Round 3 in 2011 by The Undertaker Eliminated in Round 1 in 2009 by Rey Mysterio Liger announced he would be wrapping up his career at Tokyo Dome 2020, so his 2019 has had increased exposure for the veteran. He had a great title challenge against Taiji Ishimori in March, tagged with the Great Sasuke in a fun match against Shinjiro Otani and Tatsuhito Takaiwa in ZERO1 in July, and had a very nice send off in CMLL in July. He’s currently in a feud with Minoru Suzuki that has resulted in the return of Jushin’s psychopathic Kishin side. Dragon Lee Eliminated in Round 3 of 2017 WH-128 by Zack Sabre Jr. I don’t feel bad for Dragon Lee, but he’s certainly had a tumultuous few weeks before this tournament. He shined in the Battle of Los Angeles, including a five star match with Bandido, and has done well in New Japan and Ring of Honor. However, he was fired by long-time home CMLL after an extended period of strife between himself and his brother Rush and the company. This should be wrestling’s gain, though, as Dragon Lee is now free to pursue even more highlight matches around the world. SCU, Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian, & Scorpio Sky Daniels: eliminated in Round 1 of 2017 WH-128 by Chuck Taylor Kazarian & Scorpio: not appearing in the 2017 WH-128 SCU is just about the perfect fun babyface midcard act, and they’ve shined in the role when they were previously in RoH and now in AEW. This year they’ve already had great matches with Stronghearts & against A Boy, his Dinosaur, and a Small Boy. Their pre-match promos help them instantly get over with any crowd they perform in front of. Your ballot: Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Dalton Castle Bray Wyatt vs. Marty Scurll Asuka vs. Chris Brookes Seth Rollins vs. Takashi Sugiura Velveteen Dream vs. KENTA Johnny Gargano vs. Sammy Guevara Kenny Omega vs. Jushin Liger Dragon Lee vs. SCU Voting closes at 7 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday, or whenever I get in front of a computer after that.

Zack Sabre Jr. Marty Scurll Chris Brookes Takashi Sugiura KENTA Johnny Gargano Jushin Liger Dragon Lee I adore that Sugi is getting votes purely on the basis of "not Seth Rollins". Okay, he should get votes based on the fact he's loving awesome one of the most consistently great wrestlers this decade, but take what you can get.
