Okay, Mandalorian won me over. Slow start with a few hiccups but the Bounty Droid was fun and the reveal was neat.

Not many. Counterexample: The X-files even in the first episode was locked in. I still find it amazing the Gillian Andersen was 23 when she started playing agent scully, girl has acting chops

also that fox didn't really like Andersen in the role, as she "wasn't pretty enough"

It's not going to be for everyone. I'm back and forth on it, I liked a lot of it but there were some things that stuck out as bad.

Pretty sure you can get a 7 day free trial, so there's that.

I was going to do that and texted the girlfriend who's at home today, and she said she already signed up for it. She's probably been wanting to watch old Disney movies, so

Haven't taken my beetus meds at all today; I've checked my sugar 4 times today, every time in the 70s except for now (120, probably because I've had a few beers). A good point but I was just trying more to illustrate that not many shows are hits on the first go. After sleeping off the pukiness I also remember the walking dead being just a crazy first show. Probably helped it was supposed to just be a limited series.

Besides, can you imagine how impossible it is to please the Star Wars fandom? Actors have quit social media over the vitriol and blowback . I’m glad that I can just watch a show about a galaxy far away and just enjoy it.

My friends property may have burnt but the main house and shed were spared! Even The chickens are all accounted for. I'm not on site but video from them shows gardens in the home paddock burnt to within a few metres of the house! Info is still patchy and waiting on a call back for all the details. I reckon a chopper had to have noticed and got there just in the nick of time.

Also - found some poppies - should arrive in 6 business days to Canada.

Glad to hear the good news about their house. Forest fires are intense.

Also, thank you, I look forward to them.

I didn't realize how much of a difference the weight made in the face. I've lost an entire chin!

Not gonna do a beard though. I hate shaving, but I just buzz off the facial hair once a week. And the hair is gonna be a work in progress for now - I've had an undercut for years, so the sides and back are still short. I need to let those grow back in and see what happens. I forgot how wavy my hair was, it was long enough that the weight of it made it look a lot straighter.

Really when it comes to media it's been a thing since forever. When Marylin Monroe made Some Like it Hot, Robert Osbourne remembered that when it was over, lots of people were leaving the theater saying "well that's it for Monroe, she got fat"

How are they going to explain Boba Fett being the galaxy's best bounty hunter and him getting clowned in the movies?

Aren't stormtroopers clones of his? The ones that are renowned for being terrible shots?

What I'm saying is a lot of Boba's pull is "wow, he looks cool and has a jetpack!" dude's rotting in a sarlaac pit last I saw.

I like the fan theory that Fett is actually some random dude who found the real Fett dead and took his armor. That's why he gets clowned so hard in RotJ. As per the prequels, Fett is a clone of his father, Jango Fett. We don't know if he's a real Mandalorian. Only Clone Troopers are clones of Jango. Stormtroopers are generally normal guys who were recruited.

Speaking of crazy fandoms, the pokémon nerds are loving livid that the new game is only going to have like 400 of the 800 some pokémon in it. So much vitriol towards the developers and calls to boycott the game even though they're all going to buy it anyway.
I'm looking forward to spending most of my weekend playing pokémon.

I like the fan theory that the stormtroopers were intentionally missing to allow the rebels to escape so that the empire could track them

Don't even really remember when it was anymore because I haven't been to Warped Tour in a bajillion years, but at the end of their set the Bouncing Souls drummer hucked a stick way out into the crowd and me and some girl grabbed both ends of it. Of course, I was a true gentleman, and let her have it dragged her across the ground until she let go. Then I walked over to their booth and talked with Bryan and got it signed by him. One of my friends got an Alkaline Trio pick when we saw them on their multi-night show at the Metro this past January too!

Godzilla07 posted:

Yeah, my last car was a '16 Corolla with LEDs and I'd normally have at least one person a night flash their brights at me. Sorry! :shobon:
I saw a dude bro in his dude bro Jeep this morning with blindingly bright LEDs replacing his headlights and a loving scorchingly bright center LED bar on. It was blinding me even though it was light out when I came across him. I really wish police would do something useful and ticket these dickheads with these LED lightbars.

Speaking of vehicular annoyances, I had to fill up this morning, and the diesel pump at the station by my house must have been gelled up or something, because it kept shutting off as if my tank were full. It took me like five minutes standing in 16F temps to get a gallon into my car and I gave up, and I'm pretty sure I didn't even actually get any fuel because my range didn't change at all. I had a range of 5 miles by the time I got to work and went to fill up again on lunch at the only gas station within like five miles of my work. Except there was some dude in a giant work truck filling up at the diesel pump, blocking the only two, and he had a bunch of tanks out and poo poo everywhere, so I had to leave and go get my lunch and then stress out coming back to the gas station on my way back into work <>
