IQ is an old idea that isn't entirely useless but is...flawed. The primary thing IQ tests measure is your ability to take an IQ test. If you take a lot of them or repeatedly take one type of test the number can go up. Obviously somebody that scored 120 to 150 on various tests is probably more intelligent than somebody that gets 50 to 90. Even so that doesn't tell the whole story; people studying intelligence have found that there isn't one singular "intelligence." There's...I think 7 or 9 or something. There are of course also savants in that sometimes you get people that really aren't that bright but are just absurdly good at some random thing for no readily apparent reason. It just doesn't tell the whole story. Education and background do also play a role. Somebody who had the potential to be a mega super genius but was born in the middle of a brutal civil war and wasn't educated at all while growing up is probably going to do terribly on an IQ test. That doesn't mean they aren't smart or can't some day score very well on one but if you never learned to read an IQ test isn't useful to you. There are also subjects that when you study them will make it easier to get certain questions. The SAT also gets criticism for that one; I remember when I took it there were math questions with symbols I had never seen before. Can't get a question right if you don't even know what the question is asking. IQ isn't totally useless but people that feel the need to brag about their scores and lord them over others tend to be dweebs.

Every time I've taken an IQ test the result was different, just like any other test where external factors can alter the result. I also have no reason to care about an arbitrary number when I just do what needs to be done each day as it comes. Either you suck at stuff or you don't. Big deal. I got nothin to prove.
