Nope! Sentinels, marauders, mercenaries, and gunslingers do not get offhands.

On the other hand it is much cooler to humiliate Arcann with a blaster, than to be slightly better than him with laser swords.

Finish him with a kick in the nuts for the ultimate humiliation. Scoundrels still have that right?

Dumber than 3 random Exchange goons ambushing my JK who has literally defeated the strongest Force user to ever exist multiple times and conquered entire planets in the process?

Quinn’s not even the dumbest companion.

I really like that on Corellia where Anri is all "whoa, hey, hi it's you. I'mma just surrender, kay?". It's nice that at least one person in the universe realised how bad an idea it would be to start poo poo.

Other than Lokin, ZO-OM, and Shae, are there any other companions with unique skills?

Edit:
I'm finally catching up to the stuff just before Onslaught, I still can't figure out why SWTOR writers think it's "light side" to keep someone alive for lots of torture, likely betrayal of secrets/friends, and eventual death, probably in the most painful way possible, versus just killing someone cleanly outright.

The funny thing is, you actually could in beta. They took it out when people realized they just killed their only healing companion.

This was also the case in beta, and they made the one change after the other change messed things up. The implementation of companion specs in beta was poo poo, though, from what I recall; it was good that they got rid of that version of it. Something about having to equip skill modules; needlessly complicated. Now you don't even have to gear those dudes.

Yeah, I remember. For years I wondered loudly why they didn't just give people a placeholder trooper companion or something to preserve the story and mechanical aspect if they couldn't make companions switch specs.

Fun fact is that I actually bought my forums account to come post about this game back at launch. Feels like a lifetime ago now.

I'm bored and apparently hate myself enough to try out another MMO so I'm downloading this and used the referral.

Does it matter which side I go with to eventually play with you guys if I enjoy it, like are you mostly on the sith/Jedi side or evenly split?

I'm also a little confused from what I read, it looks like you can choose either side and go lightside or darkside? Does your initial character creation determine who you can be grouped with or does your light/dark points or whatever? A tl;dr of that would be appreciated

I've not played this game in ages but guilds were exclusive to each faction so there was one goon guild for each faction. The Sith side goon guild was the more active one. You could generally only group with your faction in both pve and pvp. I don't remember if that changed in the expansions. You could be light side or dark side in any faction and it didn't affect who you can group with at all.

DrunkenGarbageCan
Nov 4, 2009
Light side\Dark side doesn’t mean poo poo except for story choices.

You can’t group with the opposing faction but PvP Warzones are cross-faction to help with every server being Imp dominated.

PvE is same faction only and there are group finders for basically everything.

The larger a guild is the better bonuses and Conquest rewards you’ll get. If you want to talk to goons creating a private chat channel would be the better solution.

I watched it the first day, and watching it was the first time I saw it. It's not a huge deal, just saying SA rules are generally better safe than sorry.

But anyway, changing subjects. This new gearing system still has a bit too much RNG but good lord it's addicting to a spreadsheet nerd like myself.

To me it just feels like playing Destiny. You grind for better gear which allows you to grind for better gear and each piece of gear lets you find the fancier higher level gear.

Gearing is a leveling system now.

Medullah

Except it really isn't much of a grind. I got to 306 item rating in one night of playing, with enough tech fragments to get a few tacticals and set pieces.

And I wasn't chain running Hammer Station. Full random group finder is where it's at. My biggest complaint is that PvP and Operations aren't viable for gearing right now, which is dumb.

The wild part is 306 gear doesn't even matter, it's smoke and mirrors. Tacticals matter but are trivial to earn.

It's the non-generic Set Bonuses that are currently seperating the haves and have-nots.

That and Tactical switching abuse...shout out to my Lethality Op who enters combat with two charges of Holotraverse and Debilitate, drops 100k+ of AoE, then blasts the weakest target for 100k of burst, then stealth out to recharge it all back. I'm breaking 10k DPS in full length WZ's lol.

Turned in the Great Hunt to the Huntmaster, and hit escape when the conversation auto played by reflex. Noticed some dude standing there I could talk to, and ignored him because I can talk to him afterwards, right? Turns out nope, he vanishes with everyone else in the phase if you don't escape out of the autoplay conversation and manually talk to him. Weird that they'd include an NPC like that who only ever does anything if you specifically break the game sequence. I wonder if he's important?

Tactical switching out of combat is simple, just have hotkeys set up for each tactical. Swapping out set bonus gear is a wee bit more challenging.

I suspect they'll eventually make tacticals not work in PvP.
