It's come out she's taking billionaire money even though she said she wouldn't, and she's spiked her M4A plan in such a way that blatantly signals she means for it to get nowhere. Oh and last night she said that more American should be in the military lol.

Unfortunately like doomsday cults when the apocolypse doesn't happen at the chosen time the community often doubles down and isolates themselves to avoid addressing the failure of their prediction. The Twitter community will never die (unless Twitter does something) and if Riley and other big names don't snap out of it they'll get even worse as they'll stop going to/being invited to events and doing shows if they involve Labour Party members or some other red line the community invents.

Its quite sad.

You need optimism about the things you can affect (so be positive about the votes in a marginal you're going to canvass or help out in) but understand you're part of a system far bigger than yourself and so you cannot individualise any failures.

If Riley genuinely thinks Corbyn is Hitler then it's a reasonable pivot even if it's a crazy wild reach.
It's this bit that's doing the heavy lifting for me. Like I know the people chanting "Jews will not replace us" are antisemitic, I know the people saying "no no, this time we'll have peaceful ethnic cleansing" are antisemitic, and I know the people demanding to know if I'm Jewish and praising the Waffen-SS are antisemitic, because they blatantly put it out there. There's a bunch of other twats sending coded messages to hide behind that smokescreen put up by the blatant cunts, but I'm really not sure how someone can get through 2010-2015 without worrying about antisemitism and then it suddenly becomes a big issue when Corbyn becomes leader.

I'm not going to say that she isn't Jewish, but now that it's morphed into attacking the anti-apartheid movement and not the growing alt-right I am going to say there's something that feels off about the whole thing, like who was it that told her that Corbyn was the real reason she needs to feel worried, and now we're at the stage that whenever someone Jewish says something that counteracts that message, there's a bunch of crypto-fash trawling their twitter for bagels to discredit them. It's bizarre and worrying.

I think that's at the root of the whole thing, it attacks a weak spot of modern leftism, in that we're not supposed to question other people's lived experiences, identities, and fears.

Nah, lowering expectations that you want to be high is just depressing yourself, emotional centrism. I felt gloomy yesterday, but that didn't make me feel better.

We should be optimistic and passionate, it's contagious. And even if we win there's still a lot of work to do, almost as if we should keep up that momentum.

I'm allowing myself to think "what if, this time next year, we've got Bernie in Washington DC and Corbyn nearly a year into his first term?" and it keeps me hopeful. Labour in government would do a lot for Bernie's cause.

From a completely personal perspective (for I am aware that I have the means to absorb, to a degree, another 5 years of these cunts) my true despair will be if we somehow end up with a Tory majority. I think that's extremely unlikely to happen, if I were betting I'd be betting on a Labour minority with C+S from the SNP in return for indyref2 in 3 years or within 5, allowing Labour a chance to re-invest in Scotland (and lol the SNP couldn't stop them, imagine the optics on voting against investment in Scotland). Next likely is Tory minority with some more Labour gains which keeps us in the fight and tightens Johnson's leash.

If we're to believe the Brexit referendum result was a symptom of austerity and result of propaganda rather than more than half the country is actual rabidly racist, then Corbyn's message addressing every injustice from austerity and prior cuts through the Brexit bullshit and resonates, as we saw in 2017.

Labour's campaign machine learned a lot from 2017 and most of the wreckers that were around then are gone now. This is a time where it is completely appropriate and healthy to feel hopeful, in solidarity with a loving huge movement, backed by a prominent political party that for the first time in over 40 years truly represents the working class.

I'm right behind Spangly A on this one. These fuckers haven't got poo poo on us and we're going to beat them, if not this battle, the next one.

Not one of us is alone. Solidarity.

I would like to join the chorus declaring that we will win this election. A Labour government is the only moral option, and everyone knows it. Yes, the establishment is pulling out all the stops and trying every dirty trick they can imagine to undermine us, but it's not working well enough. It's all falling apart, and as they get more and more desperate they become more and more stupid, and they make worse and worse mistakes. The Right Wing that has dominated the political discourse for so long in this country is finished. Their tricks are no longer sufficient.

It was always going to be the case that the game is heavily rigged against us, and it will mean that we won't win by as much as we should. But at this point they cannot stop us winning, and once we have won we can begin to turn the tables.

This is not complacency. This is hope, and in one month it will be triumph. There will of course be much more to do afterwards, but we will have the strength to do it. And when the Right has finished licking its wounds and comes crawling back for another round, we will be that much stronger, and we will be ready for them :getin:
