Gonna be ugly next week in the BC lower mainland if transit goes full shutdown. I hope they figure something out. I have been puzzling over what to do to improve driver safety though, that’s possibly the toughest nut to crack. Fully enclosed driving cockpit? It’s terrible they have to put up with abuse and needs a good solution for sure.

For certain problematic routes, have plainclothes "air marshal" style support riding with them for a while until people get the idea that bus drivers aren't punching bags.

I don't thank the bus driver if they're copped up. Doing extra duty thanking the rest of them during this strike tho

Socialism was removed from the NDP constitution under Layton. Sure he was charismatic, but he was such a moderate he hand-picked Thatcher- and homeopathy-loving Mulcair as a successor

yeah but people think fondly of him, I feel like demonizing Layton and gaining support for next election is going to be a really steep incline. And save the circular firing squad and purge for after victory, people I can't stress that enough.

EvidenceBasedQuack posted:Socialism was removed from the NDP constitution under Layton. Is this true? Bill Blaikie and the NDP Wikipedia entry indicate those two attempts were unsuccessful and the preamble itself retains reference to democratic socialist traditions. EvidenceBasedQuack posted:Sure he was charismatic, but he was such a moderate he hand-picked Thatcher- and homeopathy-loving Mulcair as a successor Won't challenge that point.
