I am debating whether to keep watching or start replaying HL1 as a refresher to the upcoming Half-Life Alyx...

Chris yelled at people on stage and then they made him shut up and now he's mad. Also they have awesome new tech that has never been done before which means they have to redo everything. V4 will be the jesus patch. e: also, the head of engine or whatever has no idea if V4 will use more or less memory than V3 and clouds are hard

And then a long boring mission made longer to avoid even worse popin. One ship glitch. edit: Oh yeah, Chris said it is "Early days" around 4 or 5 times.

Why doesn't it work properly? CR 2016: Nevermind that. Look at this team-based arena first person shooter! Us: U-huh. Yeah, that's also not what you said, and this also doesn't work properly... What are the chances they'll make Theatres of War free to rope in new subscribers? Sorta like what Fortnite tried to do.

40 minutes of talk about how procedural generation is limiting and they redid everything so the planets are more natural by handpainting the climate etc. Now 40 minutes of talk about how they are procedurally generating space stations in the future

Beet Wagon posted:Okay I've been super busy with this dumb research project, someone catch me up. I need a rundown of the funny things that have happened at or around Citcon so far. Chris opened the event. What the audience lacked in joyful anticipation Chris more than compensated for with nervous, animated energy. There was no glib, self-centered kickoff from Sandi this year — she couldn’t be bothered to even show up and pretend she’s earning her six-figure salary. There were some technical issues, most notably that FOIP was dead though clearly they’d meant for it to be a big part of the walkthrough. New Babbage has a Cortina knockoff who tells bad jokes Dave Haddock wrote. Remember when the crowds were so lit that they spontaneously broke out in Helmet chants just to watch a now-discarded animation play? This crowd is dead right out of the gate and the burden is on Chris, Lando, and even the totally not being paid to be there Rexzilla to inject a pulse into the proceedings. This is the deadest kickoff of a Citcon ever, and nobody attending could possibly assume the best years are ahead. They are years past, when we were all still looking forward and wondering just how incredible the years ahead might be. CitizenCon has transitioned from rocket show to the future to a nostalgia vehicle about how much fun it used to be. It’s a time machine. It takes us to a place... where we ache to go again.
