When you start a new game of Starsector it has to generate years of a more complex ('cuz it actually exists) economic simulation. It takes less than a minute and then you get to shoot other space ships with your awesome space ships. pew-pew-pew! while the boring simulation just keeps on trucking in the background, as it should. And I don't see anybody creaming their pants over that.

But the economic system stuff would surely be super easy to put into the PU. It's just some basic calculations - you wouldn't have to literally have NPCs flying around, you can just simulate it.
