Old people have a pretty reliable track record of voting for horrible reactionaries without much help. But the DAB bribing reactionary olds with Maxim banquets is pretty well documented. A pillow would be new and oddly specific. The text, by the way, says "Hey grandma, where'd you get that gift?" "We bought it ourselves!" The Indonesian maid agencies for whatever reason have Cantonese language training, whereas the Filipinas speak English and don't learn Cantonese. The pro Beijing parties all got absolutely annihilated in the district council elections though. Not just the DAB. With 71% turnout it's clear the riots haven't soured people on the pro democracy camp. Turnout has never been even close to this high and the pro democrats have never done even close to this well.
