I hope public perception keeps changing against them, and maybe also be a wake up call that the (far) right is all to glad to cuddle them; but who am I kidding.

Normally the government hires civilian trucks to block roads, the drivers of those were intimidated last protest though and declined to return. So army trucks it is.twoday posted:People are saying that the military is allowing the farmers to pass through blockades in defiance of their orders Government is saying the only military deployed are the truck drivers to move the trucks on police direction. Quickly looking at pictures that seems accurate, all logistic types, not infantry. So I doubt they have any enforcement orders or even legal authority at all. Is it wrong for me to see that Dutch farmer protest as inspirational? I feel like people planning disruptive protests should start looking at producing killdozer mod kits for the kinds of vehicles that have the power to push regular cars around.

While they have a legitimate grievance to a certain degree when it comes to the issue of nitrate deposition. Having already reduced 65% of emissions and now being told to do more. It's also become a rural vs urban identity war with the expected conservative vs progressive sentiment and the denial of scientific findings by farmers. The unfortunate fact is that despite the large reductions made by farmers in emissions, farming remains the biggest pollutor by far in this regard. Shrinking the sector as a whole becomes necessary if efficiency measures don't cut it. Of course this presumes you care about local nature to begin with. To some degree all "nature" in the Netherlands is artificial after centuries of shaping the land.

This was a fun week in portuguese pol, from the three parties with inner fighting the one who came out worst and more publicised was the left's newest dearest, Livre. With a really high school level of gossip played out in all to see. Having voted for them in part due to their identity platform, it's really disappointing how this played out and I still don't get what really happened.

i just noticed that Spain had another parliamentary election last month. i'm gonna take a wild guess and say that the Socialist-led coalition held together like a vase put together with magic tape in a rainstorm also Vox is now the third largest party in the Cortes and i'm gonna bet that they're the people behind this. good job Spain!

liberalism is only vaguely disguised fascism. liberals have given their soul to capital and will do anything to preserve that status quo. never enter into a coalition with liberals, they will never align with anybody left of extremist centrism. speaking of centrists, they too (and the liberals) will betray you for a fascist liar's kiss

Euro Minor League Update Switzerland has a council of seven as its executive, and it has traditionally been a grand coalition of the parties across the spectrum that then are supposed to support the decisions made by the council (the parties in the legislature are not so bound, just the individual members). Currently the makeup is 2-2-2-1, of nationalist right wingers, socialists, liberals, and Christian dems (centrists, mostly) The far right nationalists are the biggest party. There was an election this fall and the Greens and the Green Liberals (liberals in green branding, really) did great. The nationalists took a beating, but all the traditional parties did in favor of the Greens or Green Libs. Greens ended one seat shy of being the third largest party (Liberals). With the Green Libs, Green is the second largest block. So they demanded a seat on the council from the liberals, who currently have two, on the basis that the two parties did practically the same in the election. The nationalists, libs, and CDs rallied to the defense of the liberal and said Greens hadn’t really earned the seat. Maybe in five years if they do well in the next election, but this one doesn’t count. So the centrists, libs, and extreme right allied to keep their 5-2 majority on the council rather than give up one seat and still have a majority. anyway here is the fun left/right parliament picture. the centrist-right wingers have a majority and have decided to essentially cut the left from government, since the two socialists would always get outvoted but in public respect the of supporting the policies the government tries to shove through. maroon is the lone communist. Then the big ones are socialists, greens, green libs, Christian dems, liberals, and far right nationalists. same chart prior to the election: don’t trust the liberals, they will betray you anyway my city is run by the Socialists and a local leftist-Green party, just raised taxes by a public vote, decriminalized a bunch of actions that were being used to harass the poor and immigrants, just voted to allow foreigners with five years residence to vote, and is in general pretty awesome. so there are pockets of hope out there.

I just watched the night news in the portuguese public broadcaster and the themes chosen by the resident commentators were the twin dangers of the left winnning the us democratic primary and the possible hijacking of the struggle against climate-change by anti-capitalist forces. Love to have dipshits everywhere feeling mad and threatened by Bernie Sanders.
