Tony Hawk is still alive? I expected him to be 70 years old and dead by now. In the 90s he was known for being the really old man on a Skateboard.

I totally didn’t pay attention to who tweeted that until you just pointed it out. It definitely upgrades the quality of the tweet.

Tiggum posted:He would have been in his twenties back then. So yeah, ancient. I was in my early teens and he "felt" like he was in his 50's. I remember me and our friends being skeptical about how active he actually was in the sport and if he was just cashing in on his long passed skateboarder career. Pretty sure Leno was doing a sketch at the time about "Tony Hawk pro mobility walker" Eschenique has a new favorite as of 13:40 on Nov 29, 2019 |

I see you didn’t have access to the show after Leno with Conan nor did you have access to the other show on the other free network with Letterman that was on at the same time.

Where I grew up we had Letterman and we had Leno and watching Letterman as a teenager was like pulling teeth. I don't even think Letterman was for adults in the 90s. It was for people who were adults in the 70s.

I'm not convinced Letterman isn't some really elaborate gaslighting on the part of literally the entirety of pop culture. He's not funny, I've never seen him be remotely funny, and yet he has so much respect from people with actual talent who I love.

Letterman had this persona back then that he was the goofy, wiseass everyman stuck in this giant corporate network machine. In the world of 80s talk shows, that was practically anarchy and very exciting. Plus his writers had a good sense of absurd comedy compared to Leno's Garfield-level jokes. Problem is that now Dave is a total kissass with no humour. In the old days he would have wrecked Kanye and showed him up as the buffoon he is. Not nowdays.

On the Android Twitter app, I used to be able to click the magnifying glass icon and scroll down to the bottom and see a list of tweets from "Funny Accounts". That's gone now and all I see are top trending things and curated news stories. It's a lot harder to find Good Tweets because if I'm not following peak comedy accounts, I won't see them unless someone else liked them or shared them. It's really interrupted my routine of refreshing the same websites in a loop every five minutes to distract myself from, well, everything!
