Relistening to the frost episode of Red Scare. Amber was quite correct on how even if we all had free college we would have a lot of garbage collectors with great knowledge of poetry. Which would be awesome. Wait were the trillbillies on CNN?

Solution: have zero bullshit jobs like advertising or FIRE, make all the bullshit job havers into super part time garbage collectors. Sure, you'll be a garbage hauler with a PhD, but you'll only be one for like two hours a week. Replace garbage collecting with whatever unpleasant work (that can't be eliminated or automated) you can imagine.

And, I would do it for thirty two hours a week if I was paid say seventeen bucks an hour and had benefits. Also. Good on trillbillies getting crooked cnn to help them.

He (Nathan Robinson) identifies as a libertarian socialist.” Also like Amber I am a Stalinist social democrat.

you know huey really did a disservice to the constitution when he raised bonds to get around the fact that you needed to amend the constitution in louisiana to raise taxes to pay for his programs of paving roads and giving schoolchildren free textbooks. all of this is bullshit anyway, everyone went along with it until he dared to raise taxes on standard oil and they impeached him for it.

It's tragic that a huge proportion of America still thinks that Huey was a "wannabe dictator" just because his malevolent lynch-happy enemies said so, relying entirely on the argument that goes back to ancient Rome: only a dictator would want to help the poor.

Things change a lot in these races, but I think Warren sinking recently was a huge weight off his mind and the mind of many. Up until a few weeks ago, Warren supporters could point to a steady and consistent rise in her prospects. The idea that someone could so easily rise just by saying "I'm Bernie without the Bernie!" was maddening. Her sagging in the polls has put her in the context of just another not Bernie, and having two months ahead makes facing Buttigieg far less threatening than if it was two weeks. Bernie's rising prospects are also a salve after the darkness in Bolivia.

That's why Warren appealed: Same Bernie policy with no calories! Can't believe it's not Bernie! Then she began to shoot herself in the foot with hesitation and backpedaling and people turn again. But now Buttigieg is struggling to distinguish himself beyond "golly what a clean cut little boy!"

Dreylad posted:I don't follow the primaries too closely these days, what caused Warren to sink so quickly? It seemed like the DNC Clinton establishment people were beginning to throw their lot behind her 1. The DNC funders deciding to make it clear that even though most of the stuff she claims to be like Bernie on is Kayfabe it was not enough for them combined with her earnestness on trustbusting. 2. Her deciding to openly flip flop on Medicare for all and other poo poo to mollify these people. 3. The media deciding it was tired of her as their flavor of the month and attaching themselves to the dead eyed psychopath Buttigieg. 4. The people who allow themselves to believe media be about Bernie being unelectable now realizing Warren was as we said and leaving her.

Bernie gets me closer to my actual political end goal, smoking fat joints 4/7 days a week and playing indie queer visual novels*. With a couple days of cleaning toilets or whatever to stop things from getting boring. * Without relying on a privileged system oppressing billions of people and guilty of uncountable murders.
