If you are buying a concept ship for a private shopping mall ship in 2019, and no release date is specified- when's the earliest you can possibly expect to see it? 2025? Maybe? And that's if the company survives another 6 years! And also, it's guaran-loving-teed to be on sale again at least a dozen times before it comes out! AND ALSO, every time they release a ship lately it's a massive goddamn disappointment! Why would you buy this? Why would you buy anything? Literally every piece of consumer evidence says even if you're a superfan, you should slap that loving wallet closed and only buy ships that are actually released right now (and that you like the look of- they're unlikely to go back and retroactively gently caress them up post release, though it's not out of the question). The only explanation I have is that they're not really buying ships at all. Chris Roberts is feeding a habit. The purchasers get some kind of dopamine hit off of conspicuous consumption- hence the rush to the sub to immediately make as many posts about their stupid, stupid purchases as possible. It does them no good to just buy the things silently. Mark my words. The next big CIG youtube revolution will be some kind of purchasing show that is literally just Lando filming interviews with the biggest loving whales- well, the biggest ones that are remotely photogenic.

It’s funny what some people’s breaking points are. Like spending thousands on pictures of spaceships for a wildly unfinished pre-alpha space game that is 5 years late is normal and good. But CIG altering the design of your favorite spaceship picture a few times is just going too far.
