Yeah, an employee is a stakeholder, even without stock options. No one cares about them beyond their necessity, which is why they bust unions and downsize.

Best Friends posted:The core driver of a whole lot of Boeing's decisions, including imo the move to Chicago, is the desire to break the unions. Moving to Chicago makes it easier for the execs to set up competing non-union facilities in alternate locations. A key driver to all of this is irrational but extreme management fury that blue collar workers were making decent money. If you like that, wait until you see what happens in the auto industry during the next few years. Electrification will be a sea change; ICE motors are complicated and need plenty of accessories electric vehicles don't (always). No transmission, no oil pump, no ignition, etc. All those supplier facilities in the American South could go bye-bye, that would not be fun. What would the people who work for Bosch or ZF do if the work evaporated? I, for one, welcome our new Siemens-Yutani overlords.

You might want to take care of your stakeholders but you’re only legally obliged to work in the best interests of your shareholders.

I *thankfully* woke up early enough to see a nondescript email sitting in my inbox, not even done up in Alaska's website livery or even addressed clearly telling me my flight was canceled *the day of*. I called them as soon as their customer service line opened up and was able to shoehorn myself onto a middle-seat on a United flight (on their dime), and (after the fact) even got them to reimburse me for the +$99 upcharge into United's "not as terrible as our regular economy but still pretty lovely" premium economy seat, the Lyft ride cost, *and* for the Gogo day pass I'd bought for the flight. So...it could be worse.

Plane filled with wrong fuel before crash that killed Tampa plastic surgeonquote:An employee at the Kokomo facility later told investigators that as Greenwald was approaching the airport in the Aerostar, the employee asked him if he wanted jet fuel, and Greenwald said “yes.” The employee, who is not named in the report, told investigators he asked because the Aerostar looked like a jet airplane, according to the report. The Real Amethyst posted:Plane filled with wrong fuel before crash that killed Tampa plastic surgeon The incompatible nozzle that this idiot fueler circumvented was invented as a result of literally this exact set of accident circumstances. Bob Hoover, aerobatic pilot extraordinaire, survived the double engine failure that resulted when a ground crewman assumed his plane was a turboprop and filled it with jet fuel, and he set out to develop a jet fuel nozzle that could not physically be used to fuel a piston-engined plane. They are now required nearly everywhere that has any aviation regulations at all. I suppose that line about inventing a better idiot still rings true
