I mean there's always the way that Decisive Campaigns: Barbarossa does it. Playing as Germany means dealing with a bunch of backstabbing jerkbags and now the train nazi is mad at you and witholding trains you need because you gave fuel to the truck nazi and not him and he's a petty idiot like the rest of them. Also Himmler wants to borrow your troops to help with war crimes and if you say no he might not help you get the train nazi off your back and also badmouth you so you don't get the divisions you need and now Hitler has decided to change objectives for the fifth time screwing all your plans. It's just as much dealing with a dysfunctional nightmare system as it is a wargame. Also if you win the battles you still are told, after the scope of the game, that you lost the war and whoops that time you helped Himmler for political favors means you're executed for crimes against humanity. You can still technically win the campaign and refuse every war crime with a loud protest and end the war without being found guilty at Nuremberg but it's hard. Playing as the Soviets on the other hand is sending Khrushchev and Zukhov around to unfuck things while dealing with Stalin's wacky random paranoid panic attacks. baka kaba posted:It sure was! I remember the first thing I did after downloading that game was shooting the rifle range instructor in the face and ending up in virtual military prison. Do you know what is expected, I was told that I basically just need to turn up and glare at tories, which I can do! In our CLP area the counting agents collate data from different wards - not sure how it works, but I think it's to do with the boxes when they come in. We have about 40 wards and boxes from around 90 polling stations. It's important because we have some wards that in the bottom 20-25% deprived areas of Wales and some that are right at the top and all points in between.

Azza Bamboo posted:Given the abysmal state of the industry, it's probably not particularly sustainable for game company directors to give their workers a sufficient idea of socialism. It takes a lot of manpower to develop them, to be fair to our venerated capitalist overlords. Where are the days of E.T. the videogame where development cost $100k and an all-expenses-paid trip to Hawaii (seriously) in a total production budget of 22 million dollars. Other fun fact about that game is that the dev was really excited to talk to Steven Spielberg about his vision for the game and he went "I'd rather you make a pac-man clone". Apparently he's still rather sceptical of games as a narrative medium.

Hello UKMT, old time regular delurking because now seems as good a time as any. I left SA for a few years because it was making me sad, but I got sucked back into it when the Donkey Kong stream happened and I couldn't believe SA was... good? Again? Then I came in here and saw the change in mood was cos you threadbanned Pissflaps. Oh yeah, I transitioned somewhere in there too, that's relevant, I guess. I know the thread doesn't do hellos but really it's a thankyou for keeping me loving sane this year, and yeah, here for the red flag waving. Hope tastes nice.

Then go play as the revolutionaries and see how much loving better life is.

To summarize many points quickly Government spending increase enlarges the economy Austerity decreases spending which makes the economy smaller. The American economy has bounced back so quickly because gridlock is austeritys worst enemy. Now, labour plans to expand govt spending heavily which will infact bounce the economy back. Labour learned that they cant devaule because its a one way ticket out of office a long time ago. The tories are economy cutters

Just got back from the Dulwich and West Norwood hustings. Great turnout, two massively anti labour loaded questions from people who were almost certainly Tory councillors (one Spending back to the Seventies and one Respect The Result of the Referendum in a 74% constituency) but pretty much everyone was exasperated by the plants. Best result is my better half who was wavering between Labour and Green was massively impressed by Helen Hayes so if that's a read of the room it's looking good!

Apropos of nothing but my slow trek through daniel kahn's back catalogue of old yiddish songs brilliantly translated to english, I have discovered a song that puts We Have Fed You All For A Thousand Years to shame in terms of being dark as hell. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkEgX_IIsLk Think it's now at #1 on my list of old left songs that are right loving on.

I'd vote green if they were a real party. I even voted for the AV in the AV referendum with the thought in my mind that I could go Green 1 Labour 2. However they're not complete or polished as a political party and Labour has steadily consumed more of the green eco stuff into their manifesto.

We might have you beat for weird Pre-Christmas Elections. Right now in (Southern) Ireland, we are having a Vote of No Confidence for the Housing Minister. If he is voted out, it would lead to a unsupported Government and a General Election... Which would have to be before Christmas. A Goon can dream!
