I think they could replace June with a soundboard that just has clips of her saying "Hi Paul," "Can we just skip to the ending" and "But everyone in the movie looked SO good." Honestly one clip of her saying "I dunno, I thought he looked kinda sexy" would probably send Jason into a fatal apoplectic feedback loop. theironjef fucked around with this message at 05:37 on Jul 15, 2019 |

Going to the How Did This Get Made show in DC tonight. Body of Evidence is exactly as much of an incredible bore as I expected. Not even prime 1993 Madonna softcore porn could made it worth sitting through. Just unfathomably terrible. Zouks is going to have a field day with this one.

Turns out Drop Dead Fred made for a beautiful HDTGM, probably the most genuinely divided panel ever heard on any bad movie podcast and it get's vicious real fast. Zukes/June have the correct opinion.

All time great 'sode for sure. I think both teams had their points. I actually tracked down and watched the movie after listening to the podcast and the craziest things said on either side are (imo): Team Sanity: Their sympathy for the mother and the ex-husband is insane. Team Fred: I cannot believe either June or Jason so much as chuckled at any point during that movie. Underlying message aside, the film is about as funny as a funeral. I think Team Fred is closer to the mark but Paul and Casey were right that the multiple imaginary friends scene and the ending both only make sense if Fred is a separate entity from Phoebe Cates.

Weird complaint but does it seem to anyone else like Elliot Kalan has horrible live mic discipline? When they do live shows it always seems like he's slowly moving the mic away from his mouth with each sentence. They need to fit him with one of those TED talk headsets.

I haven't listened to We Hate Movies in a really long time, but this episode on Die Hard 3 they did with Jon Gabrus (a pretty funny ep) is really making me appreciate how good the Action Boyz are at taking you through the plot of a movie. The Boyz get a lot of (well deserved) praise for their bits, but you also tend to get a good sense of what actually happens in the movies they cover.

Someone in the We Hate Movies thread said it helped that the movie was essentially crystalized in their brain, so that might have made the difference. I know that movie beat for beat, so the jumping around didn't make me flinch at all. I dunno. I thought it was great, and I hope to hear him in again some day. All their talk of Last Boy Scout has me hopeful they'll cover it some day. That movie is loving bananas, and I love every second of it.

My current favorite thing on WHM is their promos for future live shows, because they're so formatted. The main guy straps on his Sam Kinison impression and yells basic stuff about what happened in the movie. All " You gotta come to this show TEEN WOLF IS SURFING ON A BUS IN THIS MOVIE JESUS CHRIST" which like, yeah, that's a thing that happens in Teen Wolf.

It also seems to me like the last two episodes had really low audio. It's like they didn't have enough mics for everyone or something, or just went with people sitting wherever they were in the room. That said, I love that they did do these quick takes, since I couldn't wait for the Cats episode.

I just dropped in here to ask if there are any Toronto goons going to the Live Show for The Flop House in April. I went to the last one which was Book of Henry (you can hear me ask a question on that!), and Elliott was fine on mic during the show. I guess I'll have to talk to him about comics this year now that MST3k is done for now. The big issue is catching up. I've mentioned many times I no longer have a commute so I have to make time to listen to pods. Flophouse keeps getting put off because they're so so long. Though Talking Simpsons isn't that much shorter but i always make time for that. I really need to get on it though, I really want to listen to her Rise of Skywalker and Cats episodes. I really wish i could have time to listen to We Hate Movies, they've been great guests on Talking Simpsons.

Like, bigger than mine anyway. I listen to the Dollop occasionally but I have to save it for when I'm wearing headphones, because Dave seems to only have the mic halfway down his throat to laugh, or he's mumbling into his shirt in a different room. I wanna just send them all quick how to guides on the Compressor tool.

Ugh, WHM’s review of Cruel Intentions was very good, but I think having a guest host is unnecessary. Four regular hosts (Cabin may as well be a guest host for how much he talks sometimes) is plenty. I don’t need a fifth unfamiliar voice to just chime in with general comments and not even make jokes. I know there are exceptions but I feel like the best podcasts tend to either always have guests or never/rarely have guests. And of course WHM rarely has guests, but I just kinda wanted to say something.

I really liked the Space Jam episode of HDTGM, solely for the mental image they created of Michael Jordan's nightmare of being surrounded by silent green figures for weeks on end while filming. Also, as a millennial, I never liked Space Jam and still don't know how anyone could like such a piece of garbage.

I really loving loved Space Jam as a kid and would watch it whenever it ran on TV. Every so often I wonder if I should watch it now as an adult to see if it holds up but I'm scared of shattering my good memories. EDIT: Also, regardless of the quality of the movie itself, you can hardky deny that it had one of the greatest movie soundtracks of all time (R. Kelly not withstanding) AceOfFlames fucked around with this message at 20:42 on Feb 18, 2020 |

The bar none funniest thing in Space Jam Is it portrays MJ as living in this pretty nice little suburban home, as opposed to a gigantic temple made of solid gold.

The Flop House did a live reading of The Boy Next Door script last night to make good on a goal they set during their BLM fundraiser stream last month. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9QahFB7Yow What they apparently DIDN'T realize beforehand - and a highlight of the stream is definitely watching it dawn on them - was that they were reading the first draft, not the shooting script. There are a ton of differences from the actual movie, including two pretty wild things where they agree in the end that the studio made the right call on changing (The titular boy next door is definitively underage, not a 19 year old returning to high school after missing a year due to personal hardship, and his motivation/obsession with older women is born out of the fact that his mother molested him until she took her own life due to guilt.)
