have you tried doubleclicking it?

STO treats ALMOST everything as inventory items in hidden 'bags', and for some dumb reason a lot of things have to go into your inventory and then be autoused to work.

Yep, but I can't use it because I already have the title. Dialog boxes pops up saying "Not Allowed: You cannot equip that item."

Is there anything worth grabbing from the event store besides maybe the Breen Warp Core and the Ice Field Sci kit?

Yes, I know I'm old, get off my fucking lawn so I can yell at these clouds.

Is this the store with the run fast slide everywhere ice boots? Because those are a decent utility item.

Yeah, the frosted boots or whatever are handy since they're one of the few ways to boost speed and work year round. The Breen costume is limited to this year too or something like that so may as well nab that too. If you're not in a rush it's pretty easy to farm ornaments from DOFF missions there, especially with a bunch of parked alts.

Oh yeah that's what I've been doing outside the daily for the ship. Got a couple outfits and the warp core on one, didn't know the boots were useful outside the zone so i'll have to pick some of those up.

But I guess most of the kit modules are just cold reskins of other ones?

Hey time inevitably marches on, but at least they got What We Left Behind out finally. Speaking of which, I should probably watch that finally. They had some hosed up release schedule where they had like a one day limited theatrical release last year and then no way to watch it until August of this year for some reason.

Weird question: I have a title in my inventory that I can't interact with (except for moving it, but only with autosort). Is there any easy fix for that?

Got that same problem on an account of my own. You should have it accessible already so there's a hidden copy in another bag category. Safe to discard that one. Try it on Tribble if you're unsure.

I feel like I see people in the Tzenkethi battleground who just tear up the Tzenkethi ships even though I find their shields pretty tough (even knowing the front arc weaknesses and cruiser support and so on). I fly what I think is a pretty good escort w/ level 15 weapons and the right tac. consoles...but these guys seem to blow away battleships in 1-2 volleys.

Any idea what's going on? Is there some special sauce I'm missing?

Lagomorphic

The enemy level scaling in that zone has been hosed for months so you should be tearing through them like they're 10 levels below you (because they are). Tzenkethi ships have a gimmick where their front shields are weak but stronger then usual everywhere else which might be what's loving your dps.

The gimmick for the Tzenkethi is their shields get stronger based on proximity to other ships. Having some way to reliably separate them can help a lot.

Fidel Cuckstro
Jul 2, 2007

Right I'm good on both of those, but that's not it. I'll see someone attacking a lone battleship from the side, and it'll still be half-dead before I know it. It's also not just people doing science ship space-magic.

Are you fully upgraded, MKXV everything, gold upgrades, etc?

The difference between lvl 13 purple guns and consoles and lvl 15 gold can be pretty staggering.

Asimo
Sep 23, 2007

The tzenkethi ships aren't really a threat due to the scaling so some folks dive in with their 250+k rae DPS ISA-gimmick-parse vaaduar dreadnought builds or whatever and obliterate stuff instantly. That's not really normal and falling short of that and taking a few seconds to kill things is just fine if you're actually building a sane ship and not spending billions of credits or thousands of dollars on promo ship traits and stuff.

MkXV, at the rare/ultra-rare level for the time being.

If it's just really tricked out builds then cool- I honestly couldn't tell if people had hacks or something.

Also I realized just now (after like what, two years?) that the prolonged engagement photon torpedo actually has a wide angle/180 degree arc and I just never noticed because it didn't explicitly have the [Wide] mod like other torps with that. :downs:

Buff timings plus gear/doff combos. Also you need to play a tac. That's non-optional for what you're talking about.

You can do them too but it requires paying attention, not having lag so poo poo doesn't time out when you need it (in STO good luck) and then sucking completely until everything is off cooldown. If that sounds worth it to wipe out everthing in your front arc on occasion then go for it.

tl;dr that sort of "high level" play hasn't been needed for content in STO for over half a decade, don't worry about it.

Asimo
Sep 23, 2007

It hasn't even really been needed after they first nefed and split up the Borg stfs like, what, a year into things? And at that time there were way less ways to optimize anyway besides maxing weapon power, using the right tac consoles, and not fuxking up your skill build in the asinine launch era skill tree.

Those three things are still 90% of a good build.

Trip report: Fek'lhri dreadnought

Seems pretty solid, if a different playstyle from frigate carriers. Lost souls are very fragile but the hangars have a very short respawn time and they seem to do a lot of damage for fighters. This and the Fiery Entrance trait seem to push towards maximizing cooldown reductions to constantly spawn lost souls.

Not sold on Open the Maw of Gre'thor. It does a lot of damage, but only fires straight ahead and has a range of 3km. The dreadnought turns like a pig, though, so I rarely found myself in a position to use it - mainly on tfo bosses. A commander tac slot means APO can help, but I'm not convinced it's worth the console slot.

I have to imagine given those 'prevailing engines' that's not as much of an issue as it could be. But somehow I'm disappointed that the Lost Souls are fighters. It's a more tactical Obelisk?

Also apparently it looks loving spectacular in basically any shield visual you want.

Hey is there any way to view and spin around the model of lockbox ships? I don't actually want one but I want to be able to look at and zoom in on it and you can do that with the store interface for C-store ships but can't with lockbox. I wanna take a quick peek at some of the details on the franklin.
