I mean, there's all those people who lost their homes dumping the charred remains on the lawn at Parliament house and what not, so I'd say it's probably more the aspirational suburban idiots who's homes aren't threatened that are satisfied with Scummo's performance. The other four parties are also led by women, three of whom are under 35 years old.

Christ we had ONE female leader and the collective right lost their poo poo.

Just gonna do a quick Google if the Socialist Democrat Party is as evil as it sounds. Nope they're actually legit good.

Ok guys who wants to move to Finland? Upsides include good party in control and it's not on fire. Down sides include it's an ice-block instead and you have to eat the pickled herrings.

Caveat, those are the 4 parties that make up the ruling coalition. They apparently run the gamut from quite left, to fairly centre-right maybe.

I am too afraid to google who makes up the opposition because I have a feeling it'll shatter the illusion.

Finland has a pretty good history of women's rights, going back to the women's strike, which arguably gave birth to the modern (western) women's rights movement (or at the very least, played a large part in it).

I mean keep in mind the reason Finland has a new PM is because the previous PM (also part of the SDP) was forced out of office by a general strike sparked by the govt trying to gently caress over postal workers

On the other hand that kind of industrial action is explicitly illegal in Australia and was made so by the “””Labor””” party so lmao!

ABC News posted:

In March, the state's Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) released guidelines requiring new and expanding resources projects emitting more than 100,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide a year to entirely offset those emissions to get the environmental green light.

It prompted a backlash from the mining and oil and gas industries, who warned the guidelines would threaten jobs and projects.

Following a crisis meeting between industry representatives and WA Premier Mark McGowan, the guidelines were shelved and the EPA began a new round of consultation.

Ahahaha we're so lovely that a bunch of COP25 delegates are trying to put rules specifically in place to reduce our shittyness.

Guardian AU posted:

Australia’s plan to use an accounting loophole to meet its international emissions targets has been formally challenged at UN climate talks, with about 100 countries wanting the practice banned under the Paris agreement.

Delegates from developing countries led by Belize and Costa Rica have introduced a ban on using carryover credits from the Kyoto protocol into the text of the rulebook for the Paris climate agreement, which is being debated at a meeting in Madrid.

It is a crucial debate for the Morrison government as it relies on using the accounting measure to meet its commitment under the Paris deal. The emissions reduction minister, Angus Taylor, arrived in Madrid on Sunday to make Australia’s case at the second week of the talks.

Emissions projections released as Taylor left Australia suggested the Morrison government was on track to meet its 2030 target (at least a 26% emissions cut below 2005 levels), but only if it used carryover credits. Without them it expected emissions to achieve just a 16% cut. Government advisers found Australia’s fair share under a meaningful global deal would be at least 45%.

...

The government has said it earned the right to use the credits through previous efforts. Opponents say it could claim access to the credits only because Australia set unambitious targets under the Kyoto protocol, including allowing emissions to increase by up to 8% between 1990 and 2012.
...

Officials told Senate estimates earlier this year that as far as they were aware Australia was the only country planning to use carryover credits. Several developed countries had explicitly ruled out using them.
