This particular article is structured in such a way as to set a scene and build up towards a climax. It isn't a report or a personal story but tries to be both. Things like "Is Jeremy Corbyn personally antisemitic? Yes. No. I don’t know. Does it matter?" is more telling of the author's approach than owt else. e: sheesh, responded to a lot otherwise and better than me. But its not written well either. I don't know, take this post back to them, but they'll probably ignore it because they are already approaching it from a viewpoint of the left being antisemitic, but don't have the mental training to avoid the rhetorical traps the article sets up. I mean I could write a step by step breakdown of it, but would probably end up having one myself with frustration. We're tired of being called antisemites for daring to say Israel isn't perfect. When things (hopefully) get a bit more boring around here I might knock something out addressing the points I was meaning to have in part 4 about the future, because mass-produced housing is pretty much the only way of addressing the massive need for housing, as well as the massive wastefulness of current house building.

Okay, I understand the idea that historically persecuted groups should have politically autonomous areas where their rights are absolutely guaranteed. Perhaps the fact that Israel has become a genocidal apartheid state implies this shouldn't come about in the form of a nation-state which derives its legitimacy from an ethnic/religious identity?

The tweet is correct that if he needed to wear one he'd be very sick and probably have a bed in resus or even ITU. However, he isn't wearing it. It's just placed near his face. Which is a pretty common way of providing a small amount of O2 to kids or anyone else who won't tolerate wearing a tight-fitting oxygen mask constantly. Instead of making them wear a low-flow mask, you put a high-flow mask a few inches away so they get some of the benefit. You don't get a well-controlled percentage of oxygen that way, but you get some extra and the kid isn't constantly trying to rip the mask off. So a kernel of truth, but either not looking at the picture properly or just lying.

I'd personally suggest that the idea of autonomous areas is pretty bad generally compared to...like... getting rid of the persecution in the rest of society? Because that's basically arguing for segregation, even ignoring all the problems that refusing to address the discrimination will result in down the line? Of course people will argue that's why it has to be a nation state with its own guns and tanks and nuclear weapons, but of course that encourages the creation of ethnostates in general and that's not going to help you unless you're the biggest ethnostate. The whole thing is realy a right wing idea that everyone just needs to keep to their "own country" and they'll get along fine. Counterpoint, of course, being recorded history. Highlands of Scotland are normally last (bearing in mind some of their ballot boxes are coming in from the isles and probably by helicopter or light aircraft so if the weather's bad... ) and the result is usually known before they come in.

The result will be somewhere in the small hours of the morning on the 13th. The ritual for most people here is that they go to bed on Thursday night and by the time they wake up for work on Friday the result is fresh on the news.
