What if the anti-semitism allegations against labour create an unintended effect? For example what if there’s a constituency of polite anti-semites who don’t express their views in public but secretly harbour them and will vote labour after having been duped by the Tories into thinking labour is what represents their racist views more than they do?

Also I’m really experiencing hope for this election thanks to this thread. It seems in the final days all that media bludgeoning against labour kinda vaporizes into a fine mist revealing a hung parliament (or better).

I really hope you guys hold on and labour wins. We need this. We need copycat movements in Canada and the US. I’m the only socialist in my area and people for the most part treat me like a well-mannered lunatic when I talk politics. Even Canadian news media is latching onto discrediting labour:
https://nationalpost.com/opinion/barbara-kay-may-corbyn-end-up-where-he-belongs-in-the-dustbin-of-history

We need to prove them all wrong. We need a resurgent global socialist movement. Our hopes ride on this and the Bernie Campaign in the US.

I don't believe the anti-semitism stuff was never intended to convince anyone or move any votes. It was purely give the media the means to address Corbyn without giving air time to his policies. They learned from last time that their readers/viewers don't think Corbyn's policies are as insane as they do.

Yeah anti-semitism is pretty explicitly the thing that stuck when they were trying to find white noise to block out his policies.

This thread has obviously been a complete downer today, no hope anywhere. To cheer people up and distract people from #FridgeGate I think it's time to throw a dead cat pigeon on the table.

I have to say that inside the vaguely liberal, middle class, homeowning, media inspired London bubble that is what the picture looks like. It surprises me not at all to hear Laura K repeat it. I have early 40s middle class friends who are hiding that they're Labour members because they will get a backlash from their mates. They are almost to a man/woman against Corbyn. I was reluctant to stick my hand up for a long time but no longer. Anyway...

What she and they can't see but you can is us lot and Instagram and Twitter and all the rest of it. I know she is on Twitter all the time but she's too focused on picking up likes from her tribe to understand. They honestly have no idea how engaged younger people are getting and if we vote in the numbers we could do we will literally rock their worldview.

Another piece of good news is that the homeowner, liberal etc picture is changing too. They're not idiots or heartless, they just trust authorities and old institutions a bit too much, have no time to really research antisemitism because of the school run etc etc. Yet still, more and more of them are preparing to vote Labour, some because it's cutting through, others through gritted teeth.

I'd rather racists accidentally vote for a non-racist party who will improve social justice than deliberately vote for a racist one which will attack social justice.

They're the only party and have the only leadership that seems to actually care about people and improving their material conditions, rather than serving corporate interests and the already wealthy and powerful. I agree with this. Conservatives despise a show of weakness more than anything else. This, foreshadowed by all his other debate-dodging, could be enough to push a bigger fraction of tribal Tory voters who are otherwise not especially enthusiastic about Boris (or their failure to deliver Brexit or whatever) into staying home in disgust.

And as we know, consistent turnout is a Tory strength, so undermining that could make a significant contribution.

There's no mention of reporting postal voting in advance under Ofcom's broadcasting guidelines, because sharing any details about the opening of postal votes is a crime.

Electoral Commision have had dozens of complaints about it already and are apparently investigating (so response back in a year and nothing happening as Laura won't say who told her of course).
