Isn't the real political tragedy that our only choices in the modern era is that we have to choose between the Boris', Jeremys, Donalds and the Justins? Modern politics eschews the living and breathing personalities in favour of the insane, the two-faced, the corruptible and the complex. Deeper thinkers will by now have realised that this jigsaw has some wrong/exchanged pieces and cannot be finished, let alone reach our potential. Perhaps all it needs is a tweak. By that I mean reduce the legacy stuff from the late C18th. Extant problems of that era that have since been overcome. Particularly by the massive improvements in travel and communications which were the limitations that led us to adopting Geographical Representation. The first nation that can build up to the following will have created an irreproachable, workable democracy. The pinned post and its primary comments (II - VII) for the gist of the idea. (10 minutes reading) https://www.facebook.com/Vision-Representation-A-Humanist-Government-262619170609120 The same thinkers will also appreciate it will require a couple of shakedown generations. Case in point: women's impact on Democracy has yet to be realised, at least according to their complaints. A century has passed since they got the vote. That is due to other legacy issues (the persistence of religion mainly) however there is no more useful and productive equality than political equality. Let's exploit it to the max, errors and sidetracks included. Replace politicians with first-rate administrators driven only by the will of the people.

Not to add a stone to an already heavy rucksack but the French actually don't give a flying gently caress about it, Paris time is GMT+1 the way 0°C is freezing and the sky is blue.
