Famitsu is doing a survey about DQ11 for international fans, I imagine some devs and people at S-E will at least see it. https://s.famitsu.com/news/201912/11188695.html

It's going to be over in just a couple of days so don't put off responding if you want to. Good chance to let them know how you feel about Sugiyama.

Also an opportunity to let them know about any games you'd like to see released internationally, like maybe DQ10 or DQM. When all the new Mana stuff was being announced a while ago it came out in interviews that people at S-E had no idea the rest of the world was ever even interested in Seiken 3.

I made sure to tell them how great Sylvando is.

It blows my mind how clueless Japanese devs can be about how their games are perceived in foreign countries.

I remember a story about how Akira Nishitani (director of SFII, founder of Arika who developed Street Fighter EX games) didn't believe Harada (Tekken team head) telling him that Skullomania was the most popular character in the US from the SFEX games. He continued to not believe him until he was on stage at the EVO reveal and Skullomania got the most applause/reaction by a large margin.

Like, I understand most Japanese devs are probably not spending a lot if any time on English gaming websites/forums but things like this still blow my mind.

In fairness, I've heard there are 2ch posters that fuckin love Fallout: New Vegas but I've only heard it thirdhand through scuttlebutt on these forums, like, there could easily be huge fans of Western games there that aren't known about here, right?

True, JP did go wild with the Wizardry series.

The worst parts of DQB2 were when the inner voice text shows up that goes away in the time it takes to make a moderately stacked sandwich and then Malroth has a back and forth conversation with it forcing you to advance dialogue every three minutes.

is THAT what's going on? And why is everything so silent when that text is on, jeez

Let's not forget Slime Quest! We need more giant tank / castle games where you throw everything and the kitchen sink at the bad guys!

Don't get me wrong, the switch is nice but I don't always have a switch in my pocket. I'm not gonna bust out the switch on every lunch break or bus ride. In terms of phone games there's nothing I'd rather have than DQM, I don't need those 3ds games on the big screen.

They already ported the Terry's Wonderland remake to phones in Japan so I'm also hoping that makes a mobile localization easier/faster.

I've seen a lot of Japanese fanart of New Vegas so this holds up.

My understanding is wrpgs and first person shooters have a diehard super nerd audience there same as we got weeaboos obsessed with only the most anime of games.

I only just now got XI, and it's mostly easy sailing but I just want to check one thing.

Those little white ghost things I can't do anything with? Do I find out what the deal is with them later on, or am I just missing something blindingly obvious?

The ones you can't talk to, they're just set dressing. But you find out the general deal with all of them later on, yes.

DQ7 is one of the few games I beat faster than the average. It took me roughly 75 hours. Depending upon how fast you're working through it, you might have anywhere from a quarter to half the game remaining. So a quick plot progress note would be more useful than how much time you've played.

Also on which version you're playing. 3DS cuts some of the cruft and adds some QoL that makes the game go faster.

Most of the game (like about 85%) is about fixing the islands so if most of the pillars in the Shrine of Mysteries are filled up then yea.

I'm currently dealing with a King feuding with a Wizard-ruled society.

Before that it was a town with a golden goddess statue that kept monsters at bay.

Before that it was a town that kept getting destroyed until saved by the hero Wiggles and his pals.

Rechecked the play time and it's 52hrs.

Nope, I've never finished the post-game in 7. It's the longest DQ by volume of main plot.

Yeah, the postgame exists, but even the main game is looong. Like, you have to do all the pillars, and then there's more.
