Feeling very good today, almost like Christmas or something - gently caress a hung parliament, I'm reckoning a majority. Haven't voted yet as I'm waiting til my partner finishes work, but I've been ringing round and oining people all day so far.

Also want to say a big cheers to the thread, you're all good eggs. I stopped posting on SA for a while but got reminded in the UK Game Dev Slack channel (about the landlord thread) and it's been good to be back. Hello to international comrades as well, appreciate you popping in to show support. They'll be announcing the exit poll in roughly 9 hours time, though the final count will be tomorrow morning. Whichever way it goes we are all together.

Glad they had the foresight to make the Labour anthem festive.

An earnest suggestion: After you've cast your vote, don't sit up and watch the election coverage for your own mental health. It's like water torture. I have never drunk any Brewdog because their whole thing comes off as so obnoxious.

Also I don't really buy myself beer so that probably helps (I'll drink it if you give it to me but if you give me the choice I'd rather have cider. Or whisky), but mostly it's the branding is dire, honest.

I've never seen people queuing to vote ever. (though I have started seeing people queue at pubs and have got into various loud arguments about how to use a bar)

i like heineken, but i have some real pleasant memories associated with it of buying it for a euro in the field in front of eiffel tower in boiling august heat from a nice street vendor.

i'm generally with anthony bourdain - i can be kind of snobbish about food but with beer i want it cold as a compliment to the food, not as a thing in itself. i find craft beer enthusiasts as strange as ketchup ones.

Brewdog is okay but generally overpriced for what you get. Get yourselves something from Cloudwater, Northern Monk,Wylam or maybe The Kernel - the UK has a great beer scene.

Anybody who does not go out and vote labour gets to drink flat, lukewarm Carlsbergs. :colbert:

• have discussions with voters that may give rise to allegations of undue influence (e.g. voting intentions, party affiliations or party campaigns)
• display any campaign material in support of or against any particular political party or candidate other than a rosette or badge

Ring up your local party office and tell them about it, they will probably send someone to look and/or you can also make a complaint to your returning officer (assuming you can get hold of them).

Elections are usually run by the local council. Phone them up and ask for the email address. It won't go direct to the Returning Officer as that is generally (if not always) the Chief Executive Officer, but it will go to the election staff.
