I don't know if it's a good learning tool long term, but my friend had it some years ago, and out of interest I decided to play a simple song with my only musical experience being playing oboe back in school and hours of Guitar Hero clones, and after just 15 minutes I could actually play the song. Which was very different from how I learned to play oboe, and very fulfilling. It's a shame back then my PC was too old to handle the game. Kind of want to try it again now.
