If I had to guess, and the vote shares were accurate, a lot of the labour vote share went to safe tory seats while the tory share went to labour marginals.

Which would fit with the idea of labour's support base shifting.

Not that I guess the reason makes much difference.

That sounds....fair. You think Bernie over in the states is more competent? I don't want tonight to jinx the impeachment vote or worse.

I'd say that they're pretty similar in terms of their relationship with their respective parties. Both Corbyn and Bernie struggle with acting as leaders of an organized political party. National policy-wise Bernie seems to have better finger on the pulse of his constituency. If he manages to land the nomination then he probably wouldn't be alienating broad swathes of the electorate the way Corbyn has.

No, the first thing the Tories did was rule out a referendum. The only way for independence is an ''''''''''illegitimate''''''' referendum or a unilateral declaration.

All the details of the trade deals with the EU have to be finalised by the next deadline, which IIRC is December 2020. If they're not (and there is a large Tory contingent that would be happy for them not to be), then the Great No Deal Crashout is back, baby!

(And Trump has just crippled the WTO, so the "we'll be on WTO terms, no big deal" argument amounts to nothing. We will be eaten alive.)
