Feel loving poo poo as I work with homeless people and adults with learning difficulties - things have gotten awful last few years and now part of me thinks am I just wasting my time as the causation is so massive and systematic that I'm just doing a tiny thing around the symptom rather than the root cause. Anyway, have Christmas off to think. Things you can do this weekend - Go for a walk. Get out of the house. Avoid political news as its just gloating poo poo - Eat something nice. Eat something. - Don't engage with Tory cunts or other trolls. Your energy is better spent with other comrades or those that are hurting - Give yourself some time off, especially if you've been canvassing. It's okay to binge on games or shows, have a few drinks, give yourself a break - Moisturise Things you can do this winter - Get organised

Okay, this winter is going to be the death of the left. We are disorientated, defeated and hosed up. If you have any kind of meeting or other political meeting before Christmas loving GO TO IT. Even if you hate everyone there and what they are saying they are giving you a point of reference to lock onto over the coming months. Hundreds of thousands of people have been hosed over for their efforts today and they will need guidance and direction and something to look to rather than months of loving around. Do not abandon Labour, do not sacrifice yourself purely for Labour.

The result loving sucks, and there will be some tough times in the next few years but I'm not going to despair. Once the Tories push Brexit through and continue on their path I can't imagine the country improving and the blame will rest on them. They can't use anyone else as an excuse now that they have a majority. Saying that though my gf is an EU citizen and I have no idea what to tell her to reassure her now, it sucks.

Tbh it's going to be at least 6 months or a year for the average Joe to comprehend what a massively horrible decision tonight was. So give yourself that time also to Heal and re charge. Only 6 weeks to Brexit anyway. The places that voted for it will be hit the hardest. Part of me feels like being a oval office and wishing it all gets absolutely hosed and we get riots in Spring, the other part knows how many vulnerable people are at risk and will need help.

This is what I'm still trying to wrap my head around, I grew up in a rural working class area and even facebook meatheads my age have switched to Labour. All the door knocking, social media bits, how poo poo the Tory campaign was - still loving floored. At least many more people are activated now. Sure, take the time to heal and reflect - but the momentum must continue. Regardless of wherever I am in the world, I am a socialist and will always fight for that.

Do something good and kind for yourself, take a holiday or visit a retreat. Just self care as much as you can. Bad thing is this has happened. But the good thing is now that it has you can prepare, protect and heal. The next year/2 years will be a poo poo show, so why not just find a way to step back and heal before you engage again. Give yourself time.

Corbyn did have a bad hand to play: if you put a veteran of the 1970s GLC period up there, you can't expect him to triangulate hard on Europe or crime or bins and still maintain the same credibility. The mythic image of an courageous honest talker from before the era of spin doctors and messaging men (i.e., the internal party image) is hard to sustain with ever-changing transparently-engineered message on Brexit or policing or schools. And it was continual fog on flagship issues, not least of which unilaterally changing his position on Brexit twenty days before the general election, in order to boldly stake out... neutrality. Either this man was insincerely lying to you previously, is lying to you now, or just changes his mind on a dime on issues of national importance, and none of those are good options. I know, I know, for those who pay attention the evolution has its reasons and its context and we can talk about Harold Wilson and the 1975 precedent and what have you, but does all that really work at a general election? I doubt so... ultimately voters saw someone replying evasively on ITV, being rounded by the media for doing so, and then going bravely neutral on BBC in response. You know, politics. A young/female/northern(?) successor would still be plagued with the same structural problems with the media and the party activist apparatus, but at least would not have so much baggage. At least no-one will think they are supposed to transcend politicians and politics.
