The NSW environment minister came out and said climate change is influencing bushfire severity and frequency and that action is needed now. This morning, in response, the daily telegraph published a front page smear of him with some old bullshit about posing with a horse, and a two pager spread attacking him, along with a Ray Hadley opinion piece about him. Newscorp is a scourge

I've said this before, but I think that Labor's, (and any left opposition really), best bet to win government is to take a page from the Tony Abbott playbook. Coz whilst he is a homophobic racist misogynist unrepentant fuckshit, he was a great opposition leader. Be an obstructionist, contrarian, pig headed, arsehole. The message should be "NO! NO! Whatever the government is trying to do, we oppose it, and whatever they are not doing, we want to do. But most importantly THEY are wrong and dumb for doing/not doing whatever they are doing!" No matter what their policy is, oppose it and call them stupid/evil/out of touch for even suggesting it. Eventually this narrative will stick, and people, (who generally aren't satisfied with their government in normal times), will buy it come election time and vote for you. Because in this cynical day and age, the electorate, (of all political persuasions), think that politicians are lying self-serving weasels, be they right or left. But it is the right that manages to pass the blame for this onto their opposition. (See "greenies are to blame for fires, even though theyu have no power and have effected no actions"), whilst the left seems to be ineffectual and wishy washy at doing the same thing even though they have the stronger evidence for their position. Yet instead Albo is doing his bullshit appeasement, and drag the party further right thing. Which will get crushed at the polls, and allow Scomo and his fascist fundies close to free unobstructed reign.
