Hilario Baldness posted:Cool that Veidt got to save the day again, even as he'll now probably die in a jail cell. Doubtful. First no one is going to want to gently caress up the status quo. Just because Looking Glass and Laurie think the world is ready for the truth doesn't mean it is. Also you will need him to stop Angela. After all he hit the nail on the head, anyone that would take on the powers of a god has to be stopped at all costs. Dr. Manhattan was a lazy gently caress. Anyone coming after him will either inherit his full powers and become a lazy gently caress too, or worse they get most of it. In getting most of it they don't become lazy, they actually do stuff. Sometimes less harm comes from not doing something even though you can. What is actually scarier after all, a lazy do nothing god or one going around fixing things? Going back to another poster who disliked season 2 of Westworld, it is probably because Deloris went from freed captive to psychotic mass murdered. In fact she considerably worse than her creators because she absolutely knows better but exceeds their cruelty any way. Angela is worse than anyone in Watchmen because she too knows better, what the quest for godhood does, the dangers of having a powerful being waltzing around so disconnected from the world. So instead of chucking away an invitation to ultimate power, she instead takes it ensuring the cycle of horror and violence will begin again. Also consider the hubris of being able to say you can handle the power and responsibility of being the next Manhattan. She already understood or could see the hubris of running around as a costumed adventurer, she could see Keene's and True's hubris, and despite all that went with taking power beyond reason and right. So yeah I hope there is a season 2 and I hope it explores what happens when Laurie wants to overturn a 30 year old secret, the consequences of Angela's choices, Veidt being Veidt and what the government decides to do with yet another American made god.

That was great. A lot of fun. My grin as she was putting her foot towards the water was ear-to-ear. They were going to cut. It didn't matter. The story had been told.

I think you also have to take into account that Angela's doing it in part because she's emotionally connected to Dr. Manhattan and eating the egg and getting his powers is a way to do that.

Eh that was pretty disappointing (and I loved every prior episode.) It just didn't seem to do a lot of justice to the more mature themes of racism. It was all kinda goofy If Angela eating the egg gave her the powers, wouldn't she instantly know because she would begin experiencing time in the same way?

I'm glad they had a flashback to the egg conversation. You see, I'm incredibly stupid and can't remember anything that happened more than 5 minutes ago.

Ugly In The Morning posted:I liked all the plans converging at the end. The 7thK had their plan for manhattan, Trieu set them up so she could swoop in and murk them all and take Manhattan’s power, but then it turns out Manhattan and Will had started planning out their move before she even considered that, and it leaves Angela with manhattan’s powers. Probably. The only plan I’m a bit fuzzy on was Veidt’s. He just wanted to get the gently caress off of Europa and got mixed up in everything because of who he is.

Let's be real, if that scene just had her eating an egg and stepping into the pool with no flashback, a bunch of people in the thread would be like "What's this artsy weirdness?"

It was all kinda goofy Yeah, it felt like the last three episodes definitely didn't have that same magical oomph as the first six, especially in terms of examining the effects and legacies of racism. When the racist bad guys are literally disintegrated at the end, and we don't hear much beyond that, it feels a little disappointing.

The Looking Glass and Hooded Justice episodes were the highlights of the season imo. Finale was fun but felt a little rushed in the last 20 minutes or so. I’ll watch season 2, but I wouldn’t be super upset if it didn’t get renewed.
